Product Notes
Last summer I went on holiday to one of the UK's great Palladian Houses, Ickworth House in Suffolk. Around 1800 it was one of the family homes of the leaders in British society, and - as with the current mega-rich - money was no object. They owned and use nearly half a tonne (500kg/1100lb) of silver in their daily lives for plates, cutlery, serving dishes, side pieces, vases, decorations and so on. The workmanship was utterly exquisite.
This little silver salver is inspired by one of the simpler pieces. The original had the family crest engraved on the surface, which I couldn't reproduce for obvious reasons, so I substituted an engraving inspired by a familiar stag motif. The original dated to around 1770 and still looks as perfect as it did when made.
I hope you like this little piece of Georgian Elegance and can find a use for it.
