The "heat ray" element employs "EasyPose" coding for single dial smooth bending.
No other models or software (other than Poser) is needed for this item.
Not "personally" tested in DAZ Studio but "might" load and function.
A separate .OBJ "source" file is included that can be imported in a variety of 3D suites.

I can see why it was used instead of the tripod
Fantastic!! I need to watch the movie again for some for some distortions, I mean ideas! Thank you so much!!
This is the grooviest!
Thank you for reposting this great prop!
Awesome!!! Thank you for your generosity!
For anybody wondering, "Thalek" is the "John Whiting" credited as the artist who "rigged" the model with "Easy-Pose" dials. Give him a round of applause!
It's good to see this one again. You made some "legs" for it? Great! For their heat beam effected, they somehow used red hot wires shot towards the camera, if I'm remembering correctly. Very effective imagery: it LOOKED like something that could kill you. Thanks for bringing back some good memories, both of the movie, and what we did together on this project.
Wallaroo, for my own projects, I adapted this prop... https://www.renderosity.com/freestuff/items/7570/shower-of-sparks-eg-from-blowtorch-or-grinder to serve as both the heat ray AND the ever so briefly seen "magnetic legs" (thus making it a "tripod") when the fighting machine first rises from the pit. The effect in the film was achieved with a variation upon the "Jacob's Ladder" electrical discharge experiment. But it proved too great a hazard for electrocution, so it was abandoned after filming that one shot.
I think I can make a beam prop for that! Thank you, Redfern!!
I would like to see what you do with it! ;-)
Thank you.

awesome upload. still one of my all time favorite ships.
