P-6 Torpedo Boat (Project 183)
Since developments for a P-6 torpedo boat in the GDR were not producing the desired results, the GDR had already accepted an offer from the Soviet Union in 1955 to supply P-6 torpedo boats.
The delivery of 27 boats to establish a P-6 torpedo boat brigade with three detachments of nine boats each marked the beginning of the GDR naval force's fast-action torpedo boat arm. The first six boats arrived in Parow on October 8, 1957, followed by three more boats on October 19, 1957.
