Product Notes

A Poser figure of a very simplistic opening hardback book, for demonstration purposes only. Hopefully it'll give other developers some ideas.

Simply twiddle the 'Open Book' dial from 0 to 1 to see the book open. But notice what happens around the spine when you do this. You're welcome to open up the CR2 in an editor to see how it's done.

This is simply a proof of principle that doing simple maths and trigonometry with 'valueParm' dials is possible, and to some extent, practical.

It's a corrected version of the zip that was uploaded to ShareCG three years ago (it includes the missing OBJ file) - further information in the supporting Free Stuff forum topic.

firstamz78: I think that the best way to avoid losing experiments like this is to make them available as freebies on a few different sites. That way when my hard disk crashes and my backups simultaneously become unreadable (does that happen to everybody, or just me?), or when the site that contains the development topic closes down (RDNA, Smith Micro, I'm looking at you), I can simply download the end result to remind me. Which reminds me - I discovered an earlier attempt at an opening book that worked by having separate morphs to open 5°, 10°, 15° etc, but having each morph starting with all of the previous morphs fully applied. It looked promising... but I got bored as usual. :oD

Thanks vanna75 - I started using Poser and DAZ Studio around 2009 and used to pester Rob (rbtwhiz) a lot over on the DAZ forums. I know of Rob's involvement in the creation of ERC - there was a detailed write-up years ago (on the DAZ site I think, or maybe Rob's own ? I can't recall) when I was first playing with it. I've used ERC for 'normal' stuff before, but that's boring - I like pushing the boundaries ! It's amazing what you do if think outside the box. I was once suspected of cheating in a Terragen Classic challenge here on the Renderosity forums because "you can't get that sort of detail in TGC, you must have used Terragen 2". But you can, and I uploaded the .ter and .tgc files to prove it - search for "TGC selection" on shareCG

ERC was invented by Rob Whisenant upon the embrional EMC by the Poser group *many years ago* dig for a precious writing of him still available on the web and do your homework if you like to it applies to anything such as Morphs and Joints, as this case Can be *very simple* too without any trigonometry...

That's a Sketching that can help a lot of us !!! Maybe every creator did have to deal with this "TO-Do" work, once at minimum ! I have several tryouts about books that can be opened in my draft directory ;) as every one I suppose !!! THIS IS REALLY INNOVATIVE !!! BRAVO !!!
