db awesome rock 31010018 HiRes - I call this rock the dinosaur egg (for obvious reasons). It stood out to me in the Yosemite Valley one day when I was doing my Ansel Adams impersonation. While it is very close up, you can do a little cut-n-paste to add it to a larger scene.

That looks to me as though it has been through a forest fire, based upon the surface cracking and spalling, which is usually caused by rapid heating and cooling (expansion and contraction). Interesting subjects and shots, as always, db.
@Miscreate, You're absolutely correct. Tuolumne Meadows (which is where I found this rock) has had its share of fires. Forest and grass fires in Central California are a way of life. Brent
