It is surprising how a photograph like this can set one's imagination off on a tangent. First I wondered what sort of building this might have been. The doorways and window openings did not suggest a home to me. Some sort of commercial establishment, a store or restaurant, perhaps? I also noticed something else that seemed odd: the second story seems like it may have been added later, on top of the first story. There is a noticeable change in the quality of the stonework from the first to the second level, suggesting two different masons with a significant difference in skill levels. Very interesting.
