Oops, it seems (seams!) that I never showed the princess seam version here. Too distracted with packing and trolley pushing, I reckon. :-) Anyway, some renders are in my gallery, and then today, as if the dress hadn't been revealing enough already, I also gave her a boob window.

That is wonderful. Especially the way the texture runs over her hips. (Wouldn't mind seeing that packed)
Thank you!
Can I ask what stockings you're using?
These are the tights from my Daring outfit with a custom material. My dynamic bodysuit for LF2 with one of its predefined sock/stocking materials should also work quite nicely.

So, my move is done - gosh, the new place is so much warmer and has a view of the local park - and I'm not expecting excessive work stress in the immediate future - although with these things one can never know. So, maybe I will get to packing up things for FreeStuff again. I think I've got three items about ready, so here's a quick overview in case you'd like to express preferences on which ones to push out first.

First, there's my Minoan-inspired "Goddess" outfit. The main attraction, the dress, comes in two versions. Just the underdress:

or the underdress combined with the skirt as a single dynamic prop:

As per usual with my "outfits", there will be just one set of materials included.
-- I'm not mad at you, just Westphalian.
Next, there's my latest attempt at undies:
This one will likely get a few predefined materials that I like with the style, but as usual, it should be easy to mix and match with existing fabric materials.
-- I'm not mad at you, just Westphalian.
And finally, her new skimpy cocktail dress. This will likely come in two versions, too, the regular one:
and the one with the extra cutout:
I'm not too sure about materials here, but I'll have another play trying to find ones that suit.

That's fair. But what if I made a floor length version of the skimpy dress?I would prefer the Minoan style first, then the undies, then the cocktail. Skimpy is my least preferred thing but I would understand if others prefer it.

Versatility by transparency can be great where it works, like with these tights/stockings here. I've never tried it with a skirt, and I don't think it would be so great with wide, flowing garments because the invisible part would still be simulated and influence the folds in the visible part. But if I gave the cocktail dress a relatively tight, straight skirt, that might work.

Here is a version of the dress with a variable length by changing a parameter in the skirt material.

Little update: I lengthened and tightened the skirt and hemmed it at the bottom. I do have to say even the short skirt version looks much better to me than the original dress, so I'm glad I ran with the suggestions.

I can still dial it that short if I want to but I thought I didn’t need to show it again.Elegant - and sexy. That is how I see the long version. I notice you have dropped the really short dress...

Agreed! I’ll sew it up a bit and as usual, do some pose tests to make sure it behaves. The silhouette is lovely..I would pin that slit so it's not threatening to reveal tings I'd rather keep under wraps. (ie. just a half an inch less slit would go a long way. I do anything but stand straight, half of my behind is there for everyone to see.).
-- I'm not mad at you, just Westphalian.
I made the slit the suggested half inch shorter and am happy to report that the dress seems fully dropped-contact-lens safe.

Oh no, R&D has detected a failure mode. Whatever will we do?

i'm voting Minoan; got an idea but it'd need this ratty shader which i never have figured out how to do & haven't seen it in any of the outfits so far. (from pg 12 of this thread)

Ah yes, the infamous "I wore this dress three times, now look at it" effect!
Here is the quick version - and I admit I had to pull up the old scene files to remind myself how it works: In any of my recent procedural fabrics you will find a "Thread Variations" node with, among other things, a "min" and a "max" setting. Dial the max up to some value between 1 and 2, depending on how thin you want the tattered bits, then feed in a node that creates a mask for it. I'm using a Clouds node here, like so:

Fiddle with the "max" and the parameters of the cloud node until you get the desired effect and remember that the brights bits are where the fabric will be thinned out. If you have the patience, you can also hand-draw a mask in order to place the thinned-out bits exactly where you want them.

A bit more detail: the "min" and "max" determine the smallest and largest gap between threads, so effectively larger numbers mean thinner threads. and thus, more transparent fabric. A 0 means no gap at all, a 1 means the thread effectively disappears. But there is some random variation between the min and max, so in effect you only see the occasional stretch of disappearing thread. The get actual holes you need to go higher than 1.
Here is a sequence of renders with the min at 0 and the max at 0.3, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 respectively:

A final remark: the node is called "Thread Variations", not "Thread Thickness", because it just generates some values that are then fed into the channels responsible for thread thickness. You could do something completely different with the output, say use it for color variation.

thanks! never could figure out which numbers to play with. i'll dig a shader out & doodle around later today.

I've recut the dress again to make both the dress length variation via v-coordinate-driven transparency and vertically striped patterns work. My trick for getting the UVs I want in MD is to arrange the pattern pieces accordingly in the 2d window and then to make MD copy that layout into the UVs.

By the way, the thin pieces are hems. Getting the hems to fold in correctly in MD can be fiddly, so making them separate pieces is usually easier.

Since I've spent so much time on this dress lately, I may make it the first item to submit for FreeStuff, then the Minoan, and finally the undies.
(Nudity checked in case this is considered too see-through for a family-oriented website.)

Oops, long time no see! Quick PSA: with Windows 10 going out in October, I'll be converting my main computer to Linux, which means no more Poser and Marvelous Designer, at least for the foreseeable future. I might change my mind and muck about with VMs or Wine later, but for now the plan is to go all in on Blender. I'll try to push the garments I have ready into FreeStuff, but honestly my motivation is a bit low. So, if there's anything you were really looking forward to, please let me know because that will definitely give me a boost.
Also, I will not be including the jewelry I made for the Minoan dress in the FreeStuff submission because it's a bit painful to work with. If you're keen to get your hands on either the snake bracelets or the necklace or both, let me know, as well, and I can put the bare prop files online for you.
-- I'm not mad at you, just Westphalian.
I do have two other machines that run Windows 11, my work laptop and my tablet. The work computer is obviously off limits, but I could install Poser on the tablet in case I wanted to export some things out of Poser files. To run regular renders on, I don't think it's a good fit. Honestly, I'm mostly using it to read Manga.

So, just to finish up that tangent about updating ... I ran PC Health Check to see what the actual no-no is for Windows 11 on my machine. Apparently, it's just that TPM 2.0 is not available or not enabled. My machine is a custom build, which could be the reason for it not being enabled. So, if I were really keen to update, there's a chance I could do it. But as I said, I'm really looking forward to going back to Linux.
-- I'm not mad at you, just Westphalian.
I think I saw instructions on the Microsoft site that looked like an AI had written them - complete gibberish. :-) But I'm sure if I wasn't already hyped up to switch back to Linux and digging into Blender, I'd be able to find something readable.TPM 2.0 was not enabled on my custom build, but it was easy to do (forget how, but I remember finding a straight forward procedure online.

Thanks! I think I need to shape it a bit better in the bust area. Probably with a ... wait for it ... princess seam. :-)
