Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 May 30 4:19 pm)
yep, can't let those dem dere pesky spiders run around loose terrorising all the posettes now can we? lucky we've got POSER MILITARY to protect us, under the leadership of Ghost's general...and if there is more trouble we can always bring in the WH40K marines grin and if there is still trouble I'm sure Zygote and Anton's dragon would be able to help out aaaaah, the might of Poser....now as soon as I get a 3d scanner to work in reverse I'll be ready to take over the world MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! SewerRat the Megalomaniac
Paul, it exists actually...ever seen "small soldiers"? what they use to make those toys you have a 3d model on the computer, and then you have this tank of jel-like stuff it uses lazers to harden the jell, and builds a true model from your 3d model then from that model they can make moulds and mass produce whatever it is they wanted my ex-school was thinking about buying one, but they decided instead to actually save the money and use it to buy something useful. smart decision. SewerRat
they are poser3 figures I haven't looked at their heads, but I assume it's new geometries instead of a morph, but as I said, I haven't checked, so I could easily be wrong I've got no idea who made the figures, posted a question on here about it a while ago, and none of us seemed to know, couldn't find them in funstuff I could pull apart the vertices of the beret and create my own prop if you like, although I'd feel more comfortable having permission first SewerRat
The figures look like the Poser Casual Man apart from the color; somewhere on the Poser Fun Stuff I once saw a "Military texture for the Casual Man", but it isn't there now. There is still a model entry for "Red Barretts" (thus spelt) by Helmut Schaub, showing a man and a woman in army-type camouflage overalls and red berets, but just now I tried to download it and it led only to an error screen from Yahoo saying that http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Academy/1949/barretts.zip doesn't exist. If Helmut Schaub can't be contacted, those models begin to look to me like "res nullius" or "bona vacantia" and there could be discussion about someone re-posting them, since they look useful.
I heard on a TV program how Area 51 got its number. When the USA Govt started to test the atom bomb, they divided south Nevada into numbered areas. Of these areas, #51 happened to include Groom Dry Lake. Later, someoone wanted a really remote secret area to test a new secret airplane, and guessed that Groom Dry Lake would be a useful runway, and things developed from that. (Who was the lake named after?)
no nance, the point is he didn't remove the files from here there is still a link to them, the original site is gone so chances are that he has forgotten about them, or his site has been deleted I'll try to e-mail him and see if I get a reply before re-posting his model, and if he ever does return and ask me to I'll remove his models instantly, I've got no desire to 'steal' his work or distribute it if he doesn't want, but they are good models, and I'm assuming he's got no problem with them being distributed because he originally posted them here SewerRat
Nance: thanks so I guess since his site is still up, he must have took down the models himself. I won't post them until I get an e-mail reply from him in that case =) I e-mailed him last night saying a few people were looking for his models and could he post them again or give me permission to post them please =) SewerRat
perhaps. his site seems to have changed to be more a gallery than anything else, but I'd better not post them again anyway. Since they were free, he's got no problem with us having his models (I hope) so if you want e-mail me at barretts@apocx.hypermart.net and I'll arrange to send them to you, but I'd better not post them just in case =) I still haven't had a response to my e-mail SewerRat

OK, it still needs work, I know I've got to split the centre part up into more materials, and make a texture map I'm just looking for comments/suggestions while I can still easily go back and change things SewerRat
