Kix? Sounds like your next backroom tut is being requested. I haven't been sucesful creating anything worthwhile with the flame primitive either. Somewhat succesful with multiple particles put together to create an OK thing for a background component, but not something for, like, a couple of people sitting around a campfire say.
Well folks, sorry to say I haven't really been that successful either. I'm very amazed at the fire I see in the cartoons which are on. The fire looks so dang realistic that I did some research. Lots of 3D'rs use actual footage of flames (or images). Now is that cheating or what!!!! Let me play with it and I'll see what I can cook up but no promises. -Kix

Nicholas86, I'd love to take a look at the file (my e-mail is chrisdmd@aol.com). I remember a while back, when C1 came out, there was a tutorial where you used the space shuttle model and added flames to it. It looked great but I can't find the tutorial anywhere. I know in Cinema 4D you can simulate flames by using a light (omni) as the particle object in a particle emitter. The results are very good. I tried to figure out how to do this in C3, but can't. In C4D, they also have some nice animated flame and fire textures that when mapped onto a plane or other object are very convincing. I'n sure it could be done in C3 this way, it's just you need the animated fire texture. Thanks

Does anyone know where I can find some good fire and flame tuts. I need to create it for a jet engine and for a torch. Thanks
