Here is a nice Asphalt Shader BB made... There are many other nice shaders over RDNA in the Node Cult Forum too :)

The skin is a glossy material only - no tricks. Light is Sun+Sky. Rendered for 30 minutes.Click for full size.
Note: Look at the bottom of the chin - the terminator is polygonized. As noted in earlier posts this is terrible.
More kinks to work out ... ; )
The DOF looks good in this though :)
I still find it pretty amazing that transmaps , hair and DOF effects do not crush the computer like FF does when trying to rendering.
I would say you folks have done one hell of a knockout job, given the window of time you have spent getting to this point.
I have found this to be the most exciting thread to watch in a long time, almost everyday someone is coming up a new method, experiment or some really cool nugget of information...
Kudos to all for all your hard work ! :)

@ Laurie
My skin is pretty thick so, No hurt feelings... It's all good.
People get pissy, so be it, we all have our moments...
Still stumped with trying to paste a code line in Wiki.....
For instance:
# start light "Sun & Sky"
AttributeBegin
* LightGroup "Sun"*
* LightSource "sunsky"*
* "vector sundir" [-0.6 0.5 0.7]*
* "integer nsamples" [3]*
* "float gain" [0.020]*
* "float turbidity" [3]*
AttributeEnd
# end light "Sun & Sky"
All becomes one continuous line, I "Think" the punctuation is seen as a format code of sorts by wiki.
Not sure... someone confirm?

::Sigh::
Trying a copy and Paste of "Code" is a nightmare, Wiki thinks you are trying to use a format on the page... or you get 1 continuous line...
HELP?

Quote - > Quote - > Quote - i'll second that! a user-friendly guide, or even a wikipage of code snippets, would be very handy. i keep my own list but it's getting very disorganized.
I'll third it, we already have a wiki page ready, the code snippets should be commented to explain what each part does in simple terms though, it's no good just adding the code without explaining what it does & why it does it.
Yes, for me adding something about materials to the wiki is a good idea!
Added 4 new sections ...
** Editing your .LXM, LXS Files
****Material Code Line Explanations
**Material Code Line "Hacks"
Lights, Groups and SUN

Quote - (Sorry, a little late, replying to the person looking to make light-emitting textures some pages ago.)...
Note that each light emitting polygon is considered a separate light for Lux's raytracing calculations, so apply Light materials only to simple geometry, lest your render takes ages.
This was I, and I thank you VERY Much! :)
Lots of experimenting to do here :)

I am pretty sure this was brought up before, but I am think it was in relation to Lux "built-in" geometry.... I was searching back through the multiple threads and cannot seem to locate it.
Is there a "material setting" that makes a "prop" light emitting?

Quote - Synpainter, enable noise reduction. I discovered that check box today. Helps a lot!
In the bottom drop window?
(sorry, I am at work and I cannot use Lux on my old G4)

1 - Spot
1- Infin
HDRI image
1- Point @ scale 1 (tried to use on the interior of the headlight)
2 Poser Primitive cubes
JeromeA - Jet Bike and Alarms
BB's - LuxBall
TIDBIT: I stumbled across a neat thing while making this render, You can actually "ZOOM" in and out on the render while it is in progress, using the scroll wheel while the pointer is on the image window. Pretty neat!

Although they have taken a hiatus, there web page is still being used as a communication link to the world.
They will post updates as to their (Aery Soul) "situation" as they feel they can.
You will also find them to be very active on their Deviant Art account page.
I agree with hborre, the piracy BS is not the driving force behind their decision to stop for the time being, I would not count them as "GONE" yet. They are trying to find the right path for their future endeavors.
I too miss my friends very much, but I am holding hope for their future return ;)

Very Cool, Thanks Flenser...
It will be nice when one day we do not have to code every material line, but in the mean time, this has been a really exciting option for Poser rendering.... along the way leaning to manipulate materials in a code line has been enlightening, so a bit more eduction that actually been fun :)
Who knew there would be so much excitement rendering primitives :)

Quote - Here are two copies of the Poser 8 ball primitive. The glass ball was the one loaded into Poser first, the copper ball second. The first render is with the current alpha_1-20, the other one with my fix. I'm not seeing any uglies.
#2 = Perfect! :)
Thanks for doing this...
I will make the fix when I get home tonight (My work rig is an old G4, cant run Lux :( )

Quote - I'm actually not sure whether LaurieA was talking about the faceting or something else. If there's an additional problem, I'd like to know about it.
I do not think she is having any issues, I am pretty sure she was showing that her ball was exported with tris vs quads. and is rendering very smoothly by comparison.
(but I could be wrong)
