heyas; been working on improved fire. i ditched the additive nonsense for something better: mundo ambient light. i set the ambient slider to maximum, and the material turned an ugly brownish orange. so i said, i will MAKE you glow! if you type into the ambient % box, you can put whatever you want. these babies have 500% ambient light. oh, that's nerd's campfire, with the flames duplicated and rotated around. still struggling with wood textures. :/ at least this isn't as psychadelic as most. i tried mixing wood grains for deeper complexity and naturalness... i gotta quit that and go simpler! :) btw, anybody know how to make the function thing spit out a gradient from black to white? i know if you use a null function with black to white shader, you get that, but i mean IN the function. i was trying to do a jiggly transparency that faded as it got higher. i think it can be done with one of those checker functions, if you can manage to reduce the squares to one black and one white.....

That is just too funny! How do you think this stuff up?

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

Bloodsong, my 8 yr old nephew just loved this one. He's still laughing, btw. My brother-in-law thinks this would be a nice screen saver/desktop background. It's a hit! Kate (still chuckling)
