Subject: Any Plan for Pauline?

That would be a great conversion.

fly028 ( ) posted Sun, 14 February 2016 at 12:48 AM

Hello RobZhena,

It would be a great idea, but, i'm not in the "secret" for future development :-) It seems logical as Blacksmith did it for Roxie in the past, so, why not for Pauline! I will let the Renderosity staff answer this question :-)

Sorry for not replying more precisely, Best regards,

Hello,

We currently only have your one request to see a Pauline conversion. These conversions are costly to make, so we would need a lot of requests to make that happen.

psychofrogz ( ) posted Sat, 20 February 2016 at 5:57 AM

Make that 2 requests.

demiurgent ( ) posted Wed, 24 February 2016 at 1:30 AM

Out of curiosity, how many requests do you have for G2F, G2M or Genesis?

I'm not actually just asking out of self interest. I'm curious how much support has built for earlier versions of Genesis versus the (admittedly brand new) Pauline.

(At some point, if Pauline-to-G3F and G3F-to-Pauline become available, I will be a very happy person.)

For the record, V4-to-G3F works beautifully. I've grabbed the G2F-to-G3F UVs available from others, but while it works well it's not an optimum solution, I'd love to see Texture Transformer tackle this.

Could you define "costly?" Maybe we could crowd-source it.

I'll take one for both Pauline & Paul.

And the SM G2 figures while you are at it.

Count me as another for Pauline.

I'd also like to see one for Miki4, Alyson2/Anastasia as well.

Another for Pauline. :)

I would very much like to see pauline supported, and paul as well though him more out of principle as I don't currently use him. With Pauline advanced out in the wild I really think pauline is a viable figure that could start to generate some serious interest.

willshetterly ( ) posted Sun, 10 July 2016 at 7:55 PM

Add another request for Paul and Pauline. They have enormous potential, and I'd love to see that potential realized.

add one more for Pauline and Paul. Any other poser natives would be cool too.

Blacksmith3D ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2016 at 1:05 PM

I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that Pauline and Paul can be brought into Blacksmith3D (by obj or cr2) and they work well with our painting and sculpting tools. I assumed these requests were about having a V4 to Pauline or M4 to Paul conversion for our Texture Transformer (which we currently do not have). After re-reading some of the posts, I started to think that some of you may not have meant just the Texture Transformer.

FVerbaas ( ) posted Sun, 02 October 2016 at 5:15 PM

Well mine certainly was for the texture transformer. I would not see why one would ask for specific support for a figure in Blacksmith. I trust one can assume any figure loads there.

ssgbryan ( ) posted Mon, 03 October 2016 at 10:08 AM

Definitely Texture Transformer, since I don't actually own Blacksmith.

bwldrd ( ) posted Fri, 07 October 2016 at 4:47 PM

Same here, Texture Transformer. I am already using Blacksmith3d importing Pauline to create her textures from photo references (it works great), I wish to have a V4 to Pauline texture transformer as well 😀

I'd like to see Paul and Pauline grow. I think they have potential before people get turned off due to lack of support. It takes time. Most of my investment has been in V4 so being able to leverage that would be great. I haven't gone genesis or Daz format and don't plan to in the immediate future. I think Paul and Pauline could make a great alternative.

I enjoy Tempesta 3D's products and am a fan of the work. Nice to know that some of it is with Blacksmith; it makes me feel I am on the right track!

Maybe Tempesta can answer a question for me. There are some characters over at RDNA that she has made (Posy?).

What do you use for hairstyles for Pauline? They must be very limited unless work has been done for conversions?

Tempesta3d ( ) posted Tue, 25 October 2016 at 3:19 AM

Hi consumer573, thank you for your words. Yes, I do believe that Paul and Pauline can have a great potential. I am actually using any sort of hair for Pauline (and Paul too... Making my first Paul character this week 😃 )

This is how I do, keep in mind I am not an expert, I just make things randomly until they work 😆 : best way is to use prop hair, like the gorgeous ones of SAV or any other. I am successfully using any hair, also saved as figure. I put Pauline on zero pose, open the hair. They now usually fluctuate over her head. Just position the hair well on her cranium using the arrows for moving the object up or down, back and forth, until it matches with her head.

Sometimes you may need to scale a bit your hair too. Adjust all until looks fine and then select your hair and go to object if it is a prop or figure if it is a figure and click "set figure parent" and chose the head of Pauline.

Voilà! It requires for me no more than a couple of minutes. I hope it can help 😃

Smith Micro recently made poser 11 pro a 99 dollar upgrade for older poser users so I would also like to see a texture converter for pauline. V4 to pauline would be great.

It's been nearly two months since I last asked, so I'll ask again:

Is there any chance of us getting a module to use for Paul and Pauline.?

Blacksmith3D ( ) posted Fri, 07 April 2017 at 12:13 PM

Sorry. There are no plan in the near future. We have heard that there might be some updates for Paul and Pauline, so we'd really like to know if and when those updates will happen before commitment to that project. The cost of conversions is too high for us to then have to change them again later. We have other things we've been working on that will be announced soon.

I just wanted to let you know that we have been working on V4 to Pauline and a M4 to Paul conversion for our Texture Transformer version 2 base software. We are in the testing stages now, and hope to have them added to our base TTv2 within the next week or two.

Also, if you haven't already heard, we have completely changed the way Texture Transformer version 2 works. As you probably all know, the 1st version required you to load the source / input figure (like V4) into Poser or Daz Studio, load the textures you wanted to convert and then save (or export) as cr2 file. Then, use that saved cr2 file in Texture Transformer, which meant that if you had 10 makeup files to convert, you had to load each makeup file individually and save a separate cr2 file. Now, the 2nd version does not require loading the textures in Poser or DS to save them on the figure first.

And, not only does version 2 make converting cr2 files easier, it now also will convert duf, pz2 and mc6 texture files AND can usually even Iray transformations. I say usually because the complexity of the Iray shader nodes and how some character textures are made, there may still be a few bugs or TT default system settings that we will need to update to handle exceptions better. Depending on the character you wish to transform, you may need to do a couple of sets separately. For example, say a male character has two 'main' (full or default) skin texture sets; one for hairy, and one for smooth or not so hairy and then has different face options (like beard, gotee, no facial hair). The hairy set would need to be done as one batch, so that the hairy main skin texture is used as "the master" file to fill-in the 'default' areas that the face doesn't automatically include. Then, the smooth (or not so hairy) would need to be done as a separate batch so that it's 'main' (full or default) skin texture set can be used as "the master" file.

The TTv2 batch conversions can take a while to run/process (sometimes around a minute per texture), but we've tested with 30 conversions in one batch. So, considering the manual way of trying to create texture conversion from figures like V4 to Dawn (or using TT version 1), the batch processing time doesn't seems to be very well tolerated.

Please feel free to SiteMail with any questions you may have, and we'll be glad to help. Thanks for using our software!

It works like a charm and is wicked fast.

Blacksmith3D ( ) posted Fri, 14 July 2017 at 1:52 PM

I'm very glad to hear that you like it and it was fast for you. It can be slow depending on the computer and how many files are in the batch. Just fyi - We have seen TTv2 lock up with 40 batch files at once (on my Win computer with 8 gig of ram and a single processor) and because I was running a lot of other software too. TTv2 can be a resource hog, so it works best when other apps aren't running.
