Description

The Undertaker's Waltz - Cacophonia- Fairytale 10. Inspiration for this.. comes from one of my own compositions. A song of which i wrote music and lyric, in 1991. The song is called *The Undertaker's Waltz*. It is a dark metal waltz. It is recorded with my band Fairytale, in the studios of danish national television in 1992. So the audio quality is ok. I play the guitar on the recording, and my first wife #;oD Is the bass player. It is a 6 minute running composition, sized 5.7 MB For those who want to listen to it... This is the page: http://rapidshare.com/files/196756797/Fairytale-10-The_Undertaker_s_Waltz.mp3 Why did i write the song? and what is it about? Discovery Channel had a portraying series about the worst criminals in history. It was fascinating to watch, and try to understand it. The criminals was classified on a scale from 1 to 20.. 1 is the normal criminal....a 20 is the worst. The song is a portraying of the mind, of a 20 class criminal...on his last day, before his execution. Some countries still have active death penalty. In Denmark, the death penalty was abolished in 1930, if i remember. A 20 class criminal know he will get the death penalty for the crime he is about to commit... But they still chose to do it... and afterwards..They are not sorry... they do not feel remorse..it tell something about the human mind, don't it? *The Undertaker's Waltz* Is a song, about the last hours of a criminal, on his way to execution. About what goes on in his mind. His thoughts about meeting the creator. And he whistle and laugh in his last hours... he feel no remorse or sadness...no fear. It is pretty funny to make images for my own songs. I never thought i'd do that, when i wrote it in 1991. About the musical, technical elements of song... For those who might find music and music theory interesting. The intro is played on an acoustic harmonica.. in 3/4 and has the feeling of a waltz. Several sequences in the composition also runs in 3/4 - 6/8. Gives it a funny rhytmic feeling. The sub title of Cacophonia has a story, too. It is only related to the short guitar solo of the song. I deliberately play on all the tones, which are NOT in the chords... in a distance of a flat 5th. away from the chord tones. that provide Cacophony, meaning ugliness, unpleasant and nasty sounding...#;oD The opposite is Euphony.. meaning pleasant and beautiful sounding.#:o) Enjoy the song and the image. And thanks for all comments and fave, and general support of my gallery.

Interesting composition on the 'dark side' of reality. Yes, here in the USA, the death penalty still stands....especially in Texas (George Bush land) where they can't seem to execute people fast enough.

Cool image of your old song Lars and very thought provoking at that. Still I have a feeling that smug look will be wiped from his face when he stands before God

I oppose the death penalty even for those who commit brutal crimes... Music accords well with your work... a hard rock for a raw image! Well done! :)

well I got to hear your band for the first time! You're obviously experienced musicians...and I could hear the dissonances you spoke of, in fact all the flourishes & riffs were very well done. (A flat 5th is one of those intervals that always connoted dissonance in western music, it's the right place to start...the ol' 'tritone'...) Thank you for posting your music. It was my first hearing, at least... Nice sinister image, doused in the dark before-dawn that makes everything seem creepy; and his head is craned back in sinister glee. You have him walking through the archway of a church—nice irony for a murderer/criminal—and the place of execution is suitably grave, shining against that dark dawn sky, with those birds lined up in the background and that big vulture waiting for the dead... Chilling image to go with your chilling song. And on that, I liked the harmonica opening, it sounded alot like an accordion; and the guitar riff at beginning (& end I think) has a nice broad sweep to it. Waltzes are often so 'upbeat', they make great sinister pieces because they're usually associated with the opposite. And it's nice to see an upload with two arts! Hope to see more. Your gallery is always creative, Lars.
