Tribute to my dogs through 30 years.#:o) Not a planned post... but very spontaneous.. inspired by a sitemail, a moment ago.#;oD A repost from my old gallery. You need to zoom for details, on this, since it's a big image. My babies through 30 years. :) All photos in the collage, are taken between 1980 and 2008. The German Shepherd. Kittie I(1979-1989). was a German Shepherd. Kittie-II(1989-2002) was a German Longhaired Shepherd. Kittie-III(2002-2XXX) is a German Longhaired Shepherd. The German Shepherd is an amazing dog. The German Shepherd is not aggressive as many claim... It will be exactly the dog your own IQ make of it :) It is a very intelligent dog... and it takes a very intelligent owner to raise it to be a good dog :) It must be taught from the beginning...in a friendly way.. that YOU are it's master... I have seen the opposite.. which can be devastating. My father(1906-1984) was a funny and intelligent man. Unfortunately he died when i was 22. He always said with a big smile: The more you get to know humans.. the more you will love animals :) I know today what he meant... i didn't when i was 22. #;oD If one treat a dog with decency and a little respect... it will always love you. It will listen to your *BEEEP* when things are bad. If you are sad.. there is always a shoulder to lean onto.. A big fur to absorb a tear or 25... A being which will make you smile.. even if you are not in the mood for it. One to share a soft-ice with aso. ;) The hardest part with dogs is... their relatively short life..10-15 years at max.. The moment when one need to take them to the vet.. when they start to having trouble getting up. I cried like a child when Kittie-I and Kittie-II left this world. But they were worth it. And it was my *BEEEEEP'ing* duty to decide when it would be respectless against the dog.. To keep them alive for my ego's sake. One has to respect the dog and not keep it alive at any cost. But one learn to see when the time is right to say goodbye. But it is a *BEEEP'ing* decision for sure. The only right place to bury your dog, is in your heart. Enjoy all of my 3 babies.. i did for the last 30 years :) Thanks for comments, faves, and support of my gallery.

Awesome tribute Lars, beautiful dogs. I am in the process of looking for a dog, but perhaps a husky or a long haired dachshund. Had one of these years ago and loved her, watched her shot to death and the memory is still too strong...Thank you for sharing these, the puppy photos are so very cute!!!

This is such a wondeful tribute Lars and really so touching. To be honest I am still not strong enough to spend a lot of time looking at my old videos and photos of my dogs from the past as they were like my children.

For long hair dogs, daily brushing, and powerful vacuum cleaner, and a high tolerance to hair, is required. #;OD

I always found, that buying a new dog within 24 hours.. Of the death of the old dog.. helped me a lot, to bury my old dogs in my heart. A new dog, do not make you forget the old dog's passing... But a 12 week heavily active turbo puppy#:o).. keep your thoughts busy... so you do not spend, too many resources on mourning. It leads your mind away from the greif.

Wonderful collage, the two pictures I like the best is sharing an ice cream cone and dealing with the cat. I would love to have a dog but I can't have one in my apartment. I'll just have to stay with my cats.

agree with everything you said, Lars. Did you know researchers did experiments, and found that when humans sit with dogs their heart-rates go down? (The humans', that is.) Dogs are so deeply accepting that it calms humans greatly and makes them feel utterly at ease. And yes, if you love the dog, it'll love you back. They're a very responsive animal (which is probably why humans have taken to them so well). I agree about German Shepherds: They're very gentle & loving dogs if they're given love to begin with. As you no doubt know, they were originally bred to herd & protect sheep, so they had to have gentle qualities. Your photos are wonderful, esp. for anyone who's owned dogs. All 3 look very gentle. And the 'face-off' between Kittie III and the cat is great! And you know, losing a dog is like losing a brother or sister or child. They're so pure and have so little guile, when they pass it's like they passed with nothing but purity in their hearts. It's very hard. I understand why you got a new dog soon after...Very fine upload, for your love and for your memory. You always give your all here...

this is very sentimental,at least for me. i had a shepherd in germany during my disc-jockey career.hihi. in fact when i left my first wife-the only sorrow i felt was i ould not take the dog with me because i had to restart my life from scratch-lucky me. this is very special for me,very well done. greets to scandi. one more thing: when you see a dog wich behaves strange and even idiotic, have a look at his master and kick the masters ass.

I think there's a reason that Dog is God spelled backwards. This is the only place you will ever receive total unconditional love. No matter what your mood, no matter how rich or poor, no matter how clean or dirty, no matter what your condition is, your dog will love you even when all other's have left you, given up on you, or turned against you. A most wonderful post Lars, Such beautiful and intelligent looking beasties! I adore the long haired german shepherds, they are gorgeous! Losing one is heart breaking, and that ache never really goes away. The worst part is coming home to an empty house. I was fortunate, when we lost the First Dog, Mishu, Gracie Anne was already living with us. When Gracie Anne left, Murphy did his best to console me, and I him. He still tries very hard to make me happy, and I love him for it. Each dog is so much an individual, and none ever takes the place of one you have loved who has passed on. Thank you for posting this collage! Now get that camera out and take more pictues of beautiful Kitty #3. Does that gorgeous cat still live with you?

This is wonderful dedication! I agree shepherd is the smartest dog if raised correctly. My Rocky was true friend, nurse , babysitter and a horsie , 14 years of growing up together basicly. I miss him greatly...

People often think the hardest part is training them. For me, it's other end of their life-- the hard decisions and the hole they leave behind when they're gone. A very nice set of images of all their stages, and of how much photography has changed in those years, too.
