Description

"... is that a pistol in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" Hello everyone. This picture took me a whole lot longer to make than I expected. I ran into a lot of little problems with Vue 7 Esprit that slowed me down. This pretty much maxed out my computer's resources, and Vue ran out of memory trying to import the Poser characters. Once I got that solved, Vue couldn't get some of the textures right. If you apply a wood texture to a fence, then turn the fence, the texture stayed in the same orientation while the object turned under it. I replaced my wooden fence for a stone, but you can still see the direction of the material. If anyone out there knows how to fix this, I'd really appreciate the help. I finally managed to compose the picture, then it wouldn't render (too many textures, out of memory errors, etc). After saving, closing and reopening the program several times, I finally got the picture to come out. After all that work, I really hope you like it. If you have any tips or tricks at getting large scenes to render using Vue, I'd like to hear your suggestions. Tom Seaview123

Your persistence certainly paid off, that's a great scene and she's clearly up for it, I guess it's his lucky day!

You might try using my P4 character remaps, here in freestuff for future renders like this. I've remapped Posette to take V# textures, and Dork to take M3 textures, and even the P4 Horse to take MilHorse textures. Try them out and see how well they work. Very good render BTW, and it's nice to see some more, down to earth, Cowboy scenes. DO keep up the good work. DPH

I really like this and think the stone top worked great - lent it to both rural and urban setting. I'm a huge fan of anything country and love this atmosphere.

It was definitely worth staying on it Tom. Great characters, setting and lighting! I see what you mean about the direction of the texture - in Bryce it's possible to turn the texture separately from the object and would think Vue should have a similar feature. Sorry I can't be of more help my friend.

This is a Superb render Tom and well worth the time and hassel that you got doing it, Vue and memory go together in a big way, This might help but its a bit long winded : copy from the runtime/textures/folder that has your skin/cloth ect., then past to some where you can find it, use what ever postwork program you use and reduce size of the BMP(not reconmend on Jpeg) format from say 4000x4000 to 3000x3000, back to Poser or daz, load your figure using with origenal skin/cloth texture then goto material room , select the texture and then redirect them to the reduced size folder, save PZ3, then off to Vue import pz3.

You might want to look at different mapping for your textures. Try object parametric which should stop the textures going weird when you move the object. Nice render and well worth persevering with
