Description

Hello all..... Been working on this for some time now. The main terrain, tree trunks, and the building were all modeled in Silo. The rest is all modified Vue vegetation. There some 20 billion polygons in this scene (though most are hidden, really). Hlaurren translates roughly to monastery. This particular monastery is, as you can see, very difficult to find and then, having found, to actually reach. But that, of course, is it's purpose. It is both pilgrimage and test, and those few who have reached it are transformed, to say the least. Thanks for looking! And Jeremy, I really hope you like this one! While I was doing it I kept thinking about you and all the comments and critiques you give me, for which I am very thankful. That's part of the reason I put in a little bit of a story. And also, as always, to my dad, without whom none of this would be possible. I know I've said it before but I don't think you know how gratefuly I am that you casually mentioned how I might (!!) find some use of a program called Bryce.....

Very fine image, reminds me of those Greek Orthodox monasteries, and the Jade temple in China-- the one on top of the mountain. You don't really ever need 20 billion polys though . . . the small scale of the house contrasts nicely with the giant mountains. Its a great job!

Hei. i'm the first to comment. nice work, lately i was expecting something new from you and was a bit disapointed until now...:) i really like this piece. the terrain is original and fairly done, POV is almost good, just the cut to the left bothers me, vegetation is ok and the trees are sooo to my liking. good one, overall. keep it up. i'm working on my fantasy images too, but if and when i come out, i'll have a full loaded series(10-20) and will probably be Maya and only just a few in Vue, but you never know...:) All my best

It has that Chinese art feel to it. This is fantastic! I also have been working with Silo to build models(a recent venture for me).

I have a sense of computer game (of the very best artisticlly) meets Far Eastern art. A bit different for you, Frank, but definitely one of your best. The "cut to the left" certainly doesn't bother me--and I have a fairly decent sense of good design.
