Description

Hi All..was reading a thread over at Planetside TG2 Forum about strata in old terragen vs TG2 so I decieded to have a serious crack at doing the old in the new and came up with this from 2 strata maps and a ground map. The strata maps are a colour one for colour and a greyscale Rock strata for the displace...the ground is cracked mud for both functions....thanx for lookin in...comments not required but welcome.. ...

J'accroche pas sur les strates (image map shader), par contre le terrain me paraît intéressant car il se prête à ce genre de surfaces !!

Oh that is a very interesting test you have going my friend. I love it and some interesting textures in the landscape.

Other than the odd coloring - it came out quite well! There seems to be a regular pattern forming in the "mud".

@ Rich...the odd colouring comes from just grabbing any old strata map with no regard to it's colour other that it had lots, the mud pattern is the result of the tiling repeats which I should have broken up with Fractal Detail. I also could have displaced it a bit less for a more realistic look...... Thanx all for the comments.. ...

The strata came out really fine! And agree with the lesser displacement for the mud; just found out about the influence of displacement on layers.

Definately a Pioneer in your field, Super Cool Work and I wonder why it is OK to have the tiling effect in other Apps but it is not permitted in Terragen, Hmmm, Points to ponder ;^D
