Paring down your statement to its bones, I cannot help but agree with you. I have purchased and used almost every single version since 4+ and right now there is only one feature that is keeping me: THE COMIC BOOK PREVIEW.Poser 14 is a disgusting, below-minimum effort embarrassment, and Poserplay was a disgusting embarrassment too... There's nothing in Poser 14 that should not have been included as a patch to 13 (especially the Cycles stuff, which was advertised and never fully delivered in 13). Poser is NOT a market leading premium program any more. Stop acting and pricing like it is. Hard to argue that the future of Poser is not a total dead end...
If Daz adopts an OpenGL b&w line art render (and no, their anemic toon-shader-or-whatever-the-hell-they're-doing doesn't count: it's crap), I won't see much reason to stay with Poser. That makes me sad because I think Poser was once a very important and powerful tool and I'm still using it to create almost everything I make. I also prefer the way Poser handles lights and cameras to how Daz Studio handles them (for heaven's sake, Daz, get face and hand cams!).
I'm hoping Bondware steps away from this as a lesson learned and gets on the ball with some cool enhancements, and SOON.

I was so excited years ago when I heard Bondware bought Poser.
I'd hoped to see some dramatic improvements and some new content to rival DAZ's content.
Years later, I just don't see anything that would help me justify the purchase price.
Judging from the amount of content here at Renderosity, Poser doesn't get much support in the way of compelling content.
and there is the huge problem. Poser is a good software and now that its Superfly is closely aligned with Blender shaders, it really should be a great budget alternative to higher priced similar software. But it's all over the place. Having as great engine and solid capabilities and then not having content AND yanking out a core pieced that supported precisely CONTENT that helped with clothing alternatives to Poser-exclusive figures that...yes, you guessed it, lack CONTENT?? What sort of decision is that without immediately giving an alternative? This comes after releasing a we-based version of the software again without...you guessed it...CONTENT.I was so excited years ago when I heard Bondware bought Poser.

Poser 14 feels like a preview release. You get the opportunity to play with the newer Cycles and a few other things, while they figure out the rest of the development plan. That's not necessarily a bad thing, if it's pitched that way.
I do agree that, given Poser's small user base, everyone very reasonably wants to see a plan that looks viable. I don't even use the cloth room, but it's sending the wrong message, and messaging is very important at this stage. Replacing it is going to be important, and from a messaging standpoint, personally, I would be looking for some quick wins in terms of UI improvement or new functionality, even if small.
BTW: Can we get a LIKE button, for the best comments, please? In my opinion, it's clear as day that Time Choate is utterly clueless. Poser 14 is a disgusting, below-minimum effort embarrassment, and Poserplay was a disgusting embarrassment too. What the hell is Choate thinking!? And before the fanboys and old guard leap in and start shilling about his "big picture" and "planning for the future;" okay, then that should have been adequately communicated. Butchering Poser 13, then overcharging for a lesser version is nothing but a sleazy Black Friday/Christmas cash grab. There's nothing in Poser 14 that should not have been included as a patch to 13 (especially the Cycles stuff, which was advertised and never fully delivered in 13). If you have back-end stuff to work on in order to take the program forwards, then get on with that and only charge us when you have it fully resolved.
Choate has clearly never heard of the marketing truism "Exceed your customers' expectations." He clearly went to the college of "Nickel and dime at every opportunity."
In 2019 Choate laughably said "We want to delight customers by delivering commonly requested features where viable. We also want to drive adoption of the latest version of Poser with good communications" (ha ha ha flipping ha) "and AGGRESSIVE PRICING." (hysterical laughter.)Nice marketing speak, but I can tell you Timmy boy, we are distinctly UNdelighted.
When Bondware should be giving the program away for free (10 years too late actually), they're pulling this crap. Tim, Poser is NOT a market leading premium program any more. Stop acting and pricing like it is.
Hard to argue that the future of Poser is not a total dead end, but then it's in the hands of someone who seems not to have ever used the program, nor care about it.
If this is what a "tech entrepreneur" (to use his words), does, maybe he should change careers. If not for DAZ studio, and the content sales it generates, Choate would deservedly be out of a job.
