Subject: Character won't load

A_Sunbeam ( ) posted Wed, 30 March 2016 at 8:39 AM · edited Wed, 18 February 2026 at 10:18 AM

I've just started with 4.9 and downloaded all my purchases via Install Manager. For some odd reason the character JoeBot does not appear as an actor, though his material textures do. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Any thoughts, please?

You did check under the runtime folder, maybe it is in Poser layout rather than DAZStudio. There is a mention of DAZStudio Material presets which leads me to believe it was created for Poser.

Hello A_Sunbeam,

Your character is only in CR2 format, so, it should be installed in the Daz Library/Poser Format/ figures and not as a duf file as all the other daz figures in the DAZ format content library. Could you check?

Hope it helps, Best regards,

@ fly028: the installation was done through DIM according to the OP which should place it into the appropriate location within the DAZ Content folder. That means the cr2 should appear within the runtime folder of the DAZ Content folder; looking for it will involve going to the Poser format folder in DAZStudio 4.9 and follow the path to the Character folder.

Thank you both. He's in the usual runtime folder, but when I open Studio in HollywoodBoulevard there's no sign of him, just his mats. So I went through the other workspaces and found the Poser Format section in the SelfServe workspace. Studio, I think, will take a little getting used to ...
