Subject: how can i get a wide angle lense effect in maya

can somebody help me with some settings on how to achieve a wide angle lense effect(fish eye)

You can get a wide-angle lens effect by lowering the focal length attribute of
the camera. For example a 14mm focal length and below would be considered
wide-angle among photography buffs. However, to get something like a fish eye
lens or any other special geometry or even custom projections, you'll need to
download (or write) a lens shader for that specifically. These will be renderer
specific. Google mentalray lens shader.

If it's just for one shot and you don't care much about performance, you can
fake it by pointing the camera at a highly reflective sphere or other shape
that reflects your scene. I.e. the camera will be pointed in the opposite
direction as the scene, but see it in a reflection. With a little effort you
can get pretty convincing results. However, if a lens shader is available it is
a much better option.
