I prefer pdf over html. Usually html tutorials require formating to use offline. With my single phone line and dial-up, downloading the pdf is the way to go for me.
Nice work and thanks, dhenton1000!

Thread: New head modeling tutorial | Forum: Blender
Sure, a one page tutorial may be easier to handle in html. Maybe there's plans to make more extensive tutorials and wants to keep a general format. HTML is not exactly modern either. I'm new here. I guess you the resident whiner or thread God?

And all I said was I preferred pdf format and you started the "stupid" and "pdf sucks". I've downloaded tutorials in the past that were quite extensive. I can't tie up my single phone line during the day to use tutorials online, and usually downloading the complete html results requires of formating to get the necessary links to work. And I believe if a person is not online, they do have to load another application to view html? In this case, a one page tutorial, sure it is quicker. So I just politely gave my opinion, right or wrong (my first message.) As I said, I'm new here. I'm also new to 3D graphics, so my work isn't good enough yet to post. I'll quit bothering you now and just read and stop posting. Bye
Thread: Desktop resizing utility? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's just a few mouse clicks: right click the desktop, left click "properties", left click "settings", and move the little "Screen resolution" arrow to the desired setting. Click "OK". Takes about 5 seconds when you get used to it. Note: I'm using winXP right now but I believe winME works the same way.

Yes, I realize that. Depending on his video board there are applications that reside in the system tray to right click and change resolution (ATI comes to mind). I still feel its good to learn how to change your screen resolution "manually" and it takes just a few seconds. Now Qres is available here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/qres.html It's a command line program (at least that's what the description says) so I guess one could make a batch file that would launch it to change the resolution. One batch file that calls Qres and then Poser, another to "cleanup afterwards. Seems a waste since the method I mentioned is probably as quick anyway.
Thread: Desktop resizing utility? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, I had some time, so I downloaded Qres and made a small batch file as follows: c:downloadqres /x:1400 "C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 6poser.exe" c:downloadqres /x:1024 1) Change the path in the first and third lines to match the path on your computer where you unzipped qres. 2) If your Poser exe is in a different location than mine is (line 2) change it to your path (make sure you use the double quotes.) 3) Save the file as something like myposer.bat and then right click your desktop and select "new" and then "shortcut". Browse to the location you save your batch file and select it. Finish the creation process and you should have a batch file that will change your screen resolution to what you specified in line 1, launch poser, and then change the resolution back to what you specified in line 3. Note that you have to know what resolutions your video board and monitor support.

steerpike Yes, that's much better. I did a Google search and the Qres I found was a (older) command line version.
Thread: My First Try At A Robot... (W.I.P) | Forum: Bryce
I can't resist: "that robot could definetly plunge a toilet or two!" Just joking. Good start. I think the feet need pivot points. Also this would be a good "glass walker" with suction points (swivel both legs 90 degrees and add a third leg.) When one leg moves forward, all the weight will be on one leg. The body will have to lean to the side with the forward (or backwards) leg. So animating would be tough to make it look realistic. Maybe make the legs look like they are able to move up and down. That's why the "spider" type robots are so popular -- they look like they would be able to walk. Good luck!

Is there a way to enter numbers directly into the dialog boxes instead of clicking on the up/down triangles?
Thread: what do you think of Bryce 5.5? | Forum: Bryce
I haven't timed it yet, but it seems to load and save br5 scenes faster, and processes (load) obj files quicker than version 5. This (to me) is more important than the render times -- I can sleep while the final renders are performed.
Thread: Another Bryce Bug? | Forum: Bryce
Maybe I'm missing something, but what I do when I interrupt a render I want to continue (from that point) I save the br5 file first. Then jump over to D/S or go check something in the Bryce material editor. Before clicking "resume render" do a file|open (don't save), choose the file you saved earlier, and resume should pick up where it left off (before the save.)
Thread: WNP (Work Not Progressing).. help needed..:-) | Forum: Bryce
One easy way is to click on Sky and Fog at the top of the screen and then in the fourth box from the left (haze), click once and hold down the mouse button and select a new color (something that matches your sky colors.) Or, click and hold down the mouse button in the sky haze thumbnail and move the mouse to the left. This will decrease the haze value. You can also go to the sky lab and make these adjustments there.
Thread: Ungrouping a model & then realigning | Forum: Bryce
Import the model first. Set the family color by click on the "color icon" under the "A" for the object properties. Select a color that you can remember (don't used the solid blue -- it's the camera and grouping the camera with your model will be a problem.). Click on the "A" and give it a object name. Now, un-group your model. Use the TAB key to cycle through the different meshes and set the desired materials. When finished, select either your object name or the family color and re-group the model. If you want, add the model to the object library. You can work several models this way and then add them to your scene later.
Thread: OT, but HAVE to vent about some LOUSY Parents! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know if this would have worked, but I would have gotten the license plate number and called the police. Leaving a child sick is like leaving a child unattended in a car. And it's a form of child abuse. Maybe the clerk knows who they were (maybe they are regular customers).
