Totally right: use any valid Poser11 installation to transfer your stuff into Poser's world, save the transferred character/prop in a dedicated runtime, which can be either copied or better is that works smoothly enough for you: shared over either a network or a NAS, so that any Poser version can use your "DSON-ized" items

It looks like you want to save a scene file. That won't work as the figures still want DSON to load. However, you can load a figure, reduce the subdivision to -1, and then save it as a CR2, and that will load in Poser 13. I haven't tried static props, so I don't know anything about those.

Anything higher still has the blue line. If the line is there, it won’t work without DSON. I assume it’s to completely remove subdivision as hborre said. You can always add Poser’s subdivision if you want.

I just checked that particular feature, and according to DSON settings, there is no -1 value for subdivision. Even if you convert the figure to Poser subdivision, you will never display a value lower than zero. However, the -1 recommendation did not appear from thin air; it was documented somewhere, a very long time ago.

Thanks. I was fairly sure the scene file wouldn't work. Thank you EVERYONE for confirming that. I'll give it a go with the Poser 11 translation and let you all know how it goes.It looks like you want to save a scene file. That won't work as the figures still want DSON to load. (BTW, DSON broke in 12, right?)

This is what I found in my testing in 2022 ...
1. Load a Genesis 2 character (not base figure) to Poser 11 with DSON. Save scene file. Open it in Poser 12.
2. Switch figure to Unimesh. Ok, working as a static figure in Poser 12, with morphs. The visible texture seams go away when rendering.
3. But the figure has a plain static Genesis base ‘ghost’ mesh underneath it. Which cannot be selected or got rid of in Poser. This remains fixed when the upper figure-layer is moved. This body-doubling problem makes the whole thing impracticable, as soon as you start to pose or morph the imported figure.
Conclusion: Just use Poser 11 + DSON for DAZ Genesis 1 & 2 imports.
Simple alternative: good static 2D renders from any posed DAZ character, made into camera-facing billboards for use in Poser. A free camera-facing billboard setup script for Poser is on the Internet Archive.

Thanks for the detailed info. Considering that I work almost exclusively in black & white, galling back to Poser 11 may be the way to go if I want to use Genesis figures. This is what I found in my testing in 2022 ...

The 'Ghost' outline is the result of the DSON subdivision. Set the subdivision to zero under the DSON Support and save the figure to the Library in P11. Load the figure into P12, and it should bend and pose normally. Keep in mind, all your conversions must be done in P11 and saved back to the Library. That includes poses and morphs, although morphs loaded in DS will port over with the figure in Poser.

I feel like the death of DSON support has crippled my access to about 15% - 20% of stuff I purchased.
If I recall correctly, Daz Studio's DSON plugin worked with Poser 11. Is that correct?
Based on my memory, I don't think that this scenario will work, but I thought I would ask before I go to the trouble of reinstalling Poser 11 (and yes, I have the necessary DSON installation files). So, here it is...
1. If I have both Poser 11 and Poser 13 on my laptop.
2. Can I set up a figure in Poser 11 that uses some DSON-translated clothes or props, save the file.
3. Then, if I open it in Poser 13, will it still have the clothes and props that require DSON?
