Subject: 500 Error

cattlefish ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2025 at 7:31 AM · edited Mon, 30 March 2026 at 6:06 AM

Hello!

Since yesterday, I’ve been receiving a 500 error message on several pages, like the homepage, when I’m not logged in. Maybe I’m part of a minority that isn’t usually logged in. :)

Wishing you a nice weekend!

hborre ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2025 at 9:05 AM

I'm usually logged in, but the site was a little slow in loading pages yesterday.

same here... the front page, anything leading to the MarketPlace, opening images in the galleries... unless of course i'm logged in, which i'm not at least 50%+ of the time for a variety of factors...

maybe it is to due with the Battle of the Bots around here.  however, were i a new potential user trying to determine whether or not i wanted to sign up and join, i would think twice, feeling like the site doesn't run properly and/or is welcoming... first impressions and such, i spose...

feels like the site caught Covid and has been tossed into a quarantine lockdown...

It really doesn't make a good impression.

Although I've been here for a while, I don't know who is directly responsible for the server. However, someone approved my post, so I believe someone more responsible than me noticed the issue :)

I approved your post because you've been a member here for a while. The only reason it needed approval is that you hadn't posted in the forum before. I don't have any server knowledge, so I can't validate anyone's claim. But I also don't want to block anyone looking for help.

I too am getting the 500 Server error on the home page when starting a session; the link to login works fine, from the banner, and so do the rest of the pages after I login.

Entering the login URL directly does not trigger the 500 error.

The error occurs on any new browser session, that is, I habitually clear all ephemeral data (history, cookies and site data, cache, hosted app data, etc.) when shutting down, so, it seems that it may have something to do with the 'home page' establishing the browser session.

I like pictures, not sure it helps though ... I get the Ad Blocker error even when entering the login URL directly ... also, could you use Friendlier Large Letters for the 500, the current font makes me panic ... ;)

It's annoying. From September 5, 2025, to now, September 7, 2025...
I'm no longer getting a homepage for Renderosity. Just the 500 error message. Strangely, you can still log in via the banner and—lo and behold... everything is visible. Just damn slow.
But now it's getting even stranger—when you try to access the service, access is denied. Despite logging in with a valid password.
And several website checkers are reporting that Renderosity is down.
Question: has the site been hacked? A warning to users would have been nice.
By the way, the error message appears regardless of the browser and operating system used...

I thought something like that, even if it stressed me out a bit in this specific, singular case, because it already looks like a bigger problem (obviously not as urgent as I thought). And because the error message implies that *I* have a problem and the site was so nice and wanted to help, I should do the whole ticket process - the same moment they said the problem was on their side (suggestion: 500+ errors could have a different message for a different, shorter reporting path).

Current: Yes, the website is sloooow.

I'm afraid *our* patience is fine, but it's not what matters. The big problem is those who don't visit the forum, don't read this, don't read English: first-time visitors, occasional visitors. Suggestion: A (more inviting) placeholder on the homepage? Something that doesn't look like "No one is here, nothing new to see".

I have to agree with cattlefish,   the "something went wrong" message does not instill confidence for new or old users.  A nice vibrant graphic, mentioning a temporary snafu,  and we are working doligently to be back shortly with all the great new products you've learn to expect from us and are looking forward to finding at  Rendo.

It is ALL, and always,  about perception.

It could be a nice new contest after Halloween. I mean, this *is* also a platform for created images. There should be no shortage of error message images that are inviting, funny, impressive...

Hate to resurrect an older post but this just happened to me when I tried to upload to the galleries. Everything else seemed okay but each attempt ended with a green "Gallery Item Successfully Uploaded" notice sitting atop a 500 "Something Went Wrong" error page. When I checked the New Art section in the gallery I could see my thumbnail plain as day but clicking on it went straight to another 500 message. I made very certain to check my post was okay before hitting the upload button so I've not a clue what's going on here.

Again, no problems browsing the gallery, I just can't seem to post without running into this error.

UPDATE: it's working again. Not sure if it was the clear browser cache & reload dance or just waiting a day did it but this time the upload process really was successful. Hope somebody figures out what happened all the same so as to not run into more of these 500 error pages.

I did a purchase on Thursday 11/13/2025 and I received a "500 error" and I did not receive my reward points for the purchase.  I put a support ticket right after that and, as of yet, I have not received any help on that.

Is there someone here that can check on that for me?

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 15 November 2025 at 6:28 AM

The support staff is off over the weekend.

Hi

I'm also resurrecting this thread as the "500 error" appears practically each time I post a response

I think that there is something wrong in the response of the website server once the new message is recorded in the database, as the said response is effectively visible after reloading the page.

That being said: that's not urgent, so... Happy Holidays and Happy New Year eUPWrjeXVUaxlWvlabRWqc28oCGVYqHrYgzYWmm3.gif
