AI Generated Art F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Aug 27 11:07 am)

After I settled on the couch with Lou last night she was nose deep in her Kindle (she reads like I used to read before the PC) I asked her what she was reading. She said it was a Novel by Robert R. McCammon titled Swan Song told her I read the paperback back in 88 or so (I remember because I read it in Nepal) anyway I couldn't get that Novel out of my head, the descriptions of a Post Apocalyptical World was so Stark it was hard to wrap your head around it. This is an approximation of what I saw in my mind while reading
Really beautiful in it's own desolate and scary way....thanks for sharing.

Anybody seen the new rule for the AI gallery? We now have to post the prompt along with the image. I asked what happens when they don't match, like for example the really cool witches I kept getting once when all I wanted was cats. Does this new policy mean I won't be allowed to post something otherwise worthy when that happens? Not to mention works done using image to image, where the prompt by itself won't give the same results. Will we have to post original photos, etc. too in that case? Inquiring minds want to know.
P.S. Prompt Example: "Sherlock in Baker Street apartment, sexy, sultry, aroused, pout, nudity, anatomically correct, realistic, finely detailed, highly detailed skin, dramatic, action, photo, cinematic, soft lighting, high quality"

Prompt results. Now if that's Sherlock Holmes, I'll eat my bloody deerstalker!
PPS: Adding to the confusion, the model used that gave me a whole folder full of these is meant to produce gay male pinups. :eyeroll: So much for all-knowing AI.
I saw it and replied also, Byrdie. I want to know why? What caused this revision of posting an image? I don't save any of my prompts. I create an image and then it's to the trash can with it. I don't want all of my stuff looking very much alike. I don't keep track of what filter, what version of the app, what size/what exclusions/etc.
I keep track of some stuff, if I'm doing something in a series where I want a similar but not identical look. And if something works really well -- or doesn't -- then I want to know how I got it to do that. But I often change things on the fly, same as swapping out props in Poser when I'd change my mind or what I'd started with was not quite it. Right now, for instance, I am trying to add a :cough: strategically placed cushion and having a devil of a time getting it to work. Might end up bringing it into Daz Studio and doing it there, since SD is not cooperating. My rig is not so great at inpainting due to the vram issue and I can't use Nightcafe or the like on this one because NSFW. Heck, they'd probably disqualify it even with the cushion, so any upscaling & such has to be done locally. And if I get it fit for the gallery, the prompt used would likely violate or at least seriously bend, fold, spindle and otherwise deface Rendo's TOS. Even if the actual art being posted does not. Have they considered how to deal with that? Because pinup prompts and artistic nudes by their very nature must contain higher than PG-13 rated language.

My question would be then why don't the poser/daz galleries postings have to list all those ready made presets that they nearly all use?
I've been posting mine in mixed media lately anyway as they're not just straight AI, they are post processed/postworked/photobashed or whatever.
Gill
I just uploaded a DAZ Filament render to YouTube where the top disappeared on a model, so it's not just AI making it's own decisions about our artistic direction
she was by a pool so I left it in and made it 18+
So it would seem. :sigh: Those of us who use AI fairly responsibly, as a tool same as any other, ought not be tarred with the same brush as people doing a*-h0le things with it and calling it "art". I do hope the powers-that-be consider this when making rules and policies.
Meanwhile, my latest prompting disaster. I specifically said NO people. This is NOT a purple cushion!

And neither is this.

Now how am I gonna explain that under the new rules?
I understand some of you have questions and concerns regarding the new policy. Please post them in the announcement thread https://www.renderosity.com/forums/threads/2979292/new-ai-policy so they don't get lost here among the art.

I saw that post about the prompts in the AI gallery early this morning, didn't bother responding I just want to know is why? In Mid-J every prompt you have ever made is readily (more or less) available you just find the image in your user gallery and it's right there but I still want to know why do they want it. The fact that the saying it was generated in AI should be enough, AI image is segregated in a separate AI gallery would someone post a Poser or Daz in there I don't think so, what are they trying to control anyway. I'm not going to wax philosophical about it the easy way around it is just don't post in the AI Gallery here just post in this thread, he!! the regulars here will generally gladly share prompts just with asking or just give it away. What are they worried about I doubt any AI Imagery is going to take over the world He!! if you're worried about AI becoming self aware don't let the Govt. or Military Industrial Complex get it's grubby paws on it they're probably the only ones stoopid enough to want play with that basket of Snakes anyway.

I will happily give anyone my prompts...all you have to do is ask...but there's no way in He!!... i'm spending 20 mins on each image explain what i've done, because as soon as they read its AI....its dismissed anyway...won't be posting anything to the genpop gallery...in any shape or form, and if i'm expected to do it here in the forum as well..? ( somewhat of a gray area )...guess i will be posting elsewhere....
Wow! Awesome stuff there, Darkglass. I've a feeling you are pretty used to herding cats if you can get an AI to cooperate like that. Most days I've got all I can do to keep Stable Diffusion from chasing its own tail. Or sticking tails where they really don't belong. ;-)
But yes, even mentioning AI gets one the equivalent of the Kiss of Death in some circles. Because no matter how good the work is or how much time and effort one puts into it, or how long one has spent in the traditional arts before adding this tool to the ol' arsenal, those people have already decided it isn't worthy and neither are you.
So is it any wonder people aren't exactly in a hurry to disclose?
Very kind of you to say so Byrdie.....i simply won't spend my time trying to justify myself and why should i, i do what i do for me....no matter what medium i use ......no one is really interested....it's a way of life....only interested in the end result, they look at it move on.....straight and to the point....
I started out doing it on even my YouTube videos but like listing assets used in 3D renders it got old fast.
Honestly Curating is a better word than prompting anyway as it's the human eye choosing and further processing through the AI that gets the best results.
My creativity with AI took a huge hit when 3D content creators I liked objected to it so I ended up having to remove comments listing their products from my mixed media videos.
Content Advisory! This message contains profanity
example
they have me blocked and left Renderosiy anyway so won't see this
I actually stopped using their products at all now sadly
might again one day in a wholly 3D render because I bloody well paid for them
but not in a hurry and certainly won't list them
Frankly, it has the same feeling as a rule as that teachers used to foist on math students to "Show Your Work" and if it didn't follow the acceptable format to reach the goal they wanted, then you failed. I'm done. Not going to argue with them about it. I can post all day long on DeviantArt and Facebook with nobody giving me a hard time over it. If I had the power I'd delete my posts here too but once the browser has been closed and reopened that option here is gone.Anybody seen the new rule for the AI gallery? Ooh, do I remember that! Mrs. Doyle, 9th grade Algebra. :shudders: Not so sure about putting my stuff on Facebook, though. I was in a pretty big, if not one of the biggest, AI art groups over there and ended up leaving because it was rapidly mutating into a toxic cesspit of trolls, both the anti-AI and the nasty political kind. More sludge than I cared to wade thru for the sake of the occasional relevant posts that shared tips and ideas on how to get good results. Haven't found a replacement yet. I do have a DeviantArt account, but haven't used it in at least a couple years. Never got much commentary or even views of what I did post there, so ...
Guess I'll just stick around here, for now anyways.
dA is not the friendliest place towards AI either, I haven't posted too much AI stuff there since this thread opened if they start squirrelling with this thread don't know where I'll go definitely will NOT go to FB for any reason.Ooh, do I remember that! I only post my art to my Facebook wall and avatars of me. I have found most groups on Facebook have too many trolls. As for DA, I get some nice views and favorites there, which honestly is enough validation for me at the end of the day. Occasionally I'll get a Llama aware and I'll award back to be nice. It's mildly entertaining without any truly trolling commentary.Ooh, do I remember that! Mrs. Doyle, 9th grade Algebra. :shudders: Not so sure about putting my stuff on Facebook, though. Gill, how did you get cushions with just a plain background & nothing else in the shot? Best I could do -- and I had to switch models -- was this:

Working on a pinup that needs the cushion strategically placed, both for artistic and TOS reasons. Unfortunately SD wouldn't properly inpaint one for me, so I have to postwork it in. Hopefully I'll get something that won't look out of place and also be suitably posh to please His Nibs when he tries to hide his delicate bits from the camera's prying eyes.
You want it here you got it...The almighty PROMPT "1980 rex poster, in the style of dynamic action sequences, orientalist imagery, adventure pulp, low-angle shots, rtx on, octane render, --ar 16:9 --q 5 --s 750 --v 5" changes on style #s and other things trying to refine the mix many many remixes will get you many different results.

I just told Midj that I wanted "a purple coloured cushion". Didn't even have to say I wanted a plain white background. Midj is very understanding hhahahaaaaaGill, how did you get cushions with just a plain background & nothing else in the shot? Best I could do -- and I had to switch models -- was this:

I'd post the original but, according to my understanding of TOS, even with the undies fully covering him, he's too generously endowed. ;-)
Prompt used: John Watson in Baker Street apartment, sexy, male, red thong, realistic, finely detailed, highly detailed skin, dramatic, action, photo, pinup, cinematic, soft lighting, high quality
TOS-friendly result:

And with "military ID tags" added to the prompt:
No dog tags in any of the batch. Style/background changes make sense. But not wrong coloured knickers.
P.S. Am checking the nudity tag just in case.
He's not quite correct, there needs to be a few scars -- one very obvious on his shoulder -- and an RAMC tattoo. Alas, the AI does not seem to grok that sort of ink. It gave me these instead:

Blue-pants Watson's undies have been touched up in Photoshop so as to comply with TOS, otherwise the renders are straight out of SD. I think we can all agree that is NOT the Royal Army Medical Corps insignia.

Prompt used: John Watson in Baker Street apartment, sexy, male, red thong, realistic, finely detailed, highly detailed skin, dramatic, action, photo, pinup, cinematic, soft lighting, high quality
TOS-friendly result: Oh my....he can probe my case for sure....wow....
an image of the 80's singer Jem with her signature pink hair and 80's fashion, rocking out on stage with her band, shot with a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens The 24-70mm focal range is versatile enough to capture both close-up shots of Jem's expressions and wider shots that include her band and the stage. add a cinematic feel to the shot. To emphasize Jem's stage presence, a dramatic lighting style would be ideal for this shot. Stage lights, with their bright and colorful beams, could be used to create a dynamic and lively atmosphere. A backlight could be used to create a rim light effect, highlighting Jem's pink hair and making it stand out against the dark background. A slight blur effect could be added to the shot to enhance the sense of motion and energy. Overall, this shot would showcase Jem's iconic 80's style and highlight her commanding presence on stage. The combination of the versatile lens and dramatic lighting would create a captivating and dynamic image that captures the essence of Jem's performance. --ar 16:9 --style raw

Using a 50mm prime lens, the camera focuses on the evil queen, her striking features captured in sharp detail. Her dark eyes are fixed on the red apple she holds in her hands, which glows with an otherworldly radiance. The queen's expression is one of deep concentration, as if channeling a powerful spell through her fingertips and into the fruit. The atmospheric lighting casts deep shadows around her, emphasizing her regal presence and the dangerous power she wields. The cinematic lighting style adds a dramatic, almost theatrical flair to the scene, making it feel as if the viewer is witnessing a pivotal moment in a dark and fantastical tale. The overall effect is both alluring and unsettling, capturing the queen's beauty and power as well as the danger she represents.

Oh my! Very glam rock star and Evil Queen looks most suitably wicked. Great job there. But ... how on earth do you get away with using such wordy prompts? Last time I tried being descriptive that way the flippin' AI told me I was being too long winded and wouldn't do squat until I cut out the "fancy" bits.

Well it's Midjourney, not stable diffusion and I used Chatgpt to generate the prompts.... Here's what I said to ChatGPT:Oh my!
Act as a stable diffusion photography prompt generator that accepts a visual description and outputs a detailed paragraph that I can copy into my diffusion model. Include a variety of photography-related terminology including the description of the exact [Lens] you use and most importantly a description of the [lighting style]. Now give me a clear and concise natural language visual description of the following: then the basic description of what I am looking for.
I've yet to have dealings with ChatGPT, though I have heard a lot about it. I think one AI at a time is enough for me to try figuring out, though I might look into it later. Would be ever so nice if SD wasn't so fussy about how many words/tokens one can use, but it is what it is, eh? Of course, it might also be I need more education on the matter. Found a few tutorials, but they mostly seem to be for a different flavour than the one I have and things don't always work the same way or even work at all. Sometimes I feel like I'm flying blind with it -- and believe me, I know blind!
