Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

That would be incredible, Garree....! Your plus packs have always been more than worth it!

i think she's been sculpted very well... shoulders and all... i think maybe the shape of the feet and toes could be tweeked a bit... but that's just personal tastes and opinion... so no worries... i'm quite happy with her over-all... specially with how realistic her posing seems to be...

Yup, that's why I'm not including the hands and feet in the "official" status just yet.

I'm having issues with the head texture stretching on the eyelids, one of the reasons the eyeliners are taking so long to finish. it's not that apparent from a distance, but in closeups it becomes very visible, especially with the eye blink morph applied.I'm late for work and can't render and post images of it right now, but I'll do it as soon as I get home tonight.

Just  thought... maybe instead of redoing the feet completely (the basic shape you have is a reasonably accurate and realistic shape...) you could do some morphs to allow users to define things to their own tasts... narrower toes, more pointed or angular toes etc... then end users could customise for what ever floats their boat so to speak.... (every foot is different and everyone has a different idea of what shape is appealing)

Fisty ( ) posted Tue, 09 March 2010 at 11:45 AM

I actually really like her feet as they are..  one of the best things about her, imo..

Faery_Light ( ) posted Tue, 09 March 2010 at 12:50 PM

I like her feet too but it would be nice to have some morphs to change the shape now and then.
Same for the hands. :)

And a question: Can someone tell me how to mirror a magnet?
I created an eye morph for Toni and want it for the other eye.
As yet I haven't spawned the morph target so I still have the active magnet.

just create another magnet, copy all the magnet values applied and then invert the values that involve X position and rotations ( Y and Z) for the 3 elements: zone, base and magnet.
of course there are scripts to do that but maybe need a commercial product :)

Les, I was delighted to find it.
At one time I had a tutorial that explained how to mirror magnets but I lost it.

Your set is so much better than doing it the other way.

My face morph is done except for figuring how to make it an INJ/REM set.

As soon as I do a wee bit more work on the texture, I'll post an image.

I think it's more of a mapping thing. In the lower right is the actual UV map, I've just coloured it so you can see better how it falls on the mesh. The lavender  part on the UV map is noticeably thinner than the pink part, yet on the mesh covers almost the same space. You can see the stretching on the lower part of the lavender strip on the upper eyelid. It's really not that apparent unless you do closeups or there is a contrasting colour such as makeup.

I think I might be getting somewhere with the head twist. It could just be a pipe dream. A lot of tweaking, and testing to do yet. I enabled the falloff zones. Never had much luck with JPs before, but perhaps a few things are starting to sink in. Fingers crossed.

Hmm, it would be interesting to see if you get the same stretching with the old UVs. I mapped the eyes closed in those, which is what people generally recommend. If that works better, I could try to do change the new UVs accordingly.

But I'll have a look at the blink morph as well. It should not just stretch the top of the lid, but also pull some skin from between the lid and brow downward.

Les: that looks nice! I I guess I was a bit lazy with the head twist, since the neck twist works fine. But it's actually good to have both.

One thing to look out for a deformations of the chin and jaw. We don't want rubber bones. In an earlier version, she had an ugly deformation of the chin when the head was turned, and when I fixed that, I may have been a bit too conservative.

No offence taken. Sometimes we have to be terse, or what we are trying to say can turn into War and Peace. I to, sometimes worry that I sound terse, or overly critical, but if I felt I had to qualify everything I might never start typing.

Just to show that you're not alone, this is a V4 texture by Mec4D where you can see the exact same problem. Here also it's not so noticeable with her eyes open. I wonder what V4's UV's are like in this area!?

The original face morphs by JOELGLAINE are now back online here:
http://sites.google.com/site/antoniapolygon/MorphsJGL.zip

Please note that these have been cleaned up (thanks Cage!) to remove the unwanted twitching at the back of the head, but otherwise unchanged. In particular, I haven't done anything about that eyelid stretch yet. My plan is to start a new set of morphs, using some of Joel's as templates or starting points and adding some of my own. I'll probably start with the blink and mouth open, since these two are rather important for many things, and then work my way through the rest.

Please let me know if the download works and unpacks and loads into Poser correctly.

Hmm, ok so far, not actually opened Poser yet, however, one interesting thing I noticed is that your zip files all seem to have a file size of 0kb. This may lead folk to think they haven't downloaded properly. They have and everything works so it's something worth noting in future.

I am so concentrated on testing the neck twist at normal scale, that I have not had time to test at other scales. However I think the problem you mention is more likely to relate to the smoothScale, than the twist channels. I will try and have a look at it when, and if, I am satisfied with the head twist.

If I have any success I will post the new head twist JPs as a pose, so you can all try them.

Quote - sazzyazzca: Thanks for checking that! I'll have a look at that morph.

You're welcome. :)  My intention wasn't to throw a monkey wrench into things. Upon checking further, It happens to varying degrees with all the figures that I've checked. V4 is mapped with her eyes closed, V3 is done with them half closed and seems to have a lesser degree of stretching. I think with the blink morph fixed, it will help quite a bit. When I do custom morphs around eyes and mouth, I usually do it with a coloured version of the UV map just so I can see if there is too much stretching in one area or another.

RorrKonn ( ) posted Wed, 10 March 2010 at 11:08 AM

could have a lot of fun mapping with[

would be easy to make multiple maps form defrent charaters so any texture would work on Antonai

Arrrggg... I did not get any ebots until today and missed a lot! BlueEcho, that's a VERY nice texture you've made and I am amazed how it alters the look of Toni. Although it seems to me that you did not add a morph she does not look like a Barbie painted in dark brown like we often see it with V4.

About the eyeliner: I know this problem well from other figures, it's not a native Antonia problem. But if it really can be fixed texture artists will throw roses on your way whereever you walk, odf 😉

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

Quote - One thing to look out for a deformations of the chin and jaw. We don't want rubber bones.

Here is a view from below of the old and new head twist superimposed. Both neck and head are included. The head has a twist of 45°. As you can see the chin and jaw seem to be nicely excluded. The twist does extend rather far up the back of the head, and whilst this may be anatomically incorrect, visually it looks better to my eye than the old twist.

Neither the old or new twist play well in combination with head bend or side-side, but I think over all that the new one plays better in most respects.

I have to go out shortly, and may not be too sober when I get back. I will try to post the actual twist channel tomorrow.

Over-all i'm liking her... been thinking about the idea of morphs for the feet... i think over-all you should keep the ones you have and i don't really see any reason at this point not to finalize the figure.... she seems pretty well complete as is and aside from the small issues here and there she's still miles and miles ahead of what any other figure can do...

My thought on foot shaping is this... why not do a "morphs+" type package... include a variety of morphs for the body, cheast, head, hands, and feet... this would cut down greatly on your work as modellers and easilly allow the end user to customize to their own tastes instead of you guys having to try and figure out the best shapes to make people happy...

I've got a good teen morph worked out for the current version and a couple of other small things... plus i've been working on a texture to go with the morph.... i set up a test scene last night but haven't had the chance to render it yet... i'll post a pic when i get it done and if people like the result i'll see about posting out the morphs and texture...
