Subject: How export Poser figure with Textures to Bryce????????????

kaom ( ) posted Sat, 21 July 2001 at 9:18 PM ยท edited Thu, 05 March 2026 at 9:30 AM

I have Poser 3, and would like to export Poser figures to Bryce. I have no problem exporting the figure as 3DS, OBJ, etc... But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to export their textures from Poser and get them onto the bodies in Bryce. I know this question is very basic, but I havn't worked too much with Poser, so try not to laugh. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, kaom

Grouper is a little program that may help, but I don't know if it will work with poser 3. The program takes your exported .obj and rewrites it for Bryce.

Wow! Holy crud a Grouper!!! When I get home at night it's been taking more than my brain has left to give to fix textures in Bryce to render Poser figures. Oh man this might be a solution! Thank you very much shadowcat!!!!

Thanks everyone! I found a tutorial that showed me exactly what I needed to know. I can't believe I had to ask, I just never have had much of a need to import Poser figure into Bryce. I'm more of a mechanical model kind of guy, but the scene I'm working on now demanded it. It's esier than I thought. My problem was that I was exporting from Poser as 3DS files which have UV coord. Everything is much better now. Thanks for the help. kaom

And to make it even easier, get VueMaster. The reason it takes more than a few seconds to get PZ3's into Bryce is that Poser creates MTL files that Bryce can't read. VueMaster fixes this and puts all the needed files in one place for easy import. Poser 3 has an extra problem in that it doesn't create MTL files at all, and VueMaster fixes this by creating one for you from the PZ3 and OBJ.
