Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Apr 16 5:03 pm)

Subject: Yet Another Mini-Rant

I don't care if it's free, the Runtime folders have the following names in Poser (English):

Libraries, NOT library
camera, character, face, hair, hand, light, and pose, NOT
cameras, characters, faces, hairs, hands, lights, and poses, or any combination of the above.
Materials and props are, on the other hand, plurals thus not material and prop.

Thank you for your attention.

It's a historical thing, those names.

Also, Figures in the Poser library menu is actually the Character folder in runtime.

Ya, like infinity10 says, figure is the proper term for a Poser figure while character represents a custom figure (created via morphs, using custom textures, etc.).  In reality, there should be these folders:

cameras
lights
props
figures
propHairs
facePoses
handPoses
poses
characters
materials

My lord, how separating poses from characters would alleviate the bloat in the pose folder!

Change the poses to CM2 and store them in the camera folder. LOL

OK, i was just remembering the P4 days and I still forget they are there in my P4 runtime. LOL.

Continued mini-rant:

Thumbs.db = delete! Get rid of it before you make your ZIP files!

Currently using Poser Pro 2012 (Display Units = feet)

AMD Phenom II 3.2ghz (6 cores)

8gb RAM

Windows 10 Pro 64bit

I agree.  That should be automatic.  These Thumbs.db files aren't always controllable when added to the filesystem but their inclusion in products (or freebies) is.

nested folders are your friend.

Quote - nested folders are your friend.

It is, one thing I wish is that you could get away from the character prop and pose folders,

You have a figure with related props and some mat poses and some standard poses.

Naturally would be to have one folder for the figure and props and have the poses as sub folders.

Then have the option to filter so you only se poses under Victoria 4 or similar.

No that's too much of a good idea to be able to work with ;)

mini-response. If the CR2 (or similar functioning) files were modified to point to differently-named folders, would  they not work the same? I think some do that. I do have a lot of 'extra' folders from various items loaded in, though, so I see what you mean..

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
