Subject: Any instruction about poser native import ?

kett ( ) posted Tue, 11 April 2006 at 7:03 PM · edited Thu, 16 July 2026 at 11:17 AM

I was trying to import Poser 6 figure Victoria3 (pz3) into CPro5.1.
I had problems with the poser native import.
The morphs were not imported.
Her hair also disappeared.

It was successfully done with the Transposer.

Any instruction about poser native import ?
I am new to Carrara.

Thank you

Several threads below this headed Poser6 to Carrara5 Native----- by ringo. Read the whole thread as it explains a "missing" link to the correct "starting" point.

Bwtr, thank you for your responses.

I did read the ringo’s thread, but I was not sure how to solve my problem.

Here is the low down, simplified. For native you import the cr2 then the hair, clothes etc have to be imported seperately. You import the character figure by file--> import. Then to get the other stuff including morphs, poses, cloth you have to select the actual figure in the hierarchy tree to gain access to the import dialogues. That is what the other thread is showing. In that hierachy tree to the bottom right you select the actual figure 1, for example, not the group called figure 1(expand the tree). Once you select that figure you will see right above you the other options, including morphs.

Thank you ren_men, now I understand.

I have another question.
Can I have the hierarchy tree for the figure I imported with the Transposer ?

Thank you

Kett, you will always get a hierachy tree, it may not look exactly like that tho, but I don't use transposer or poser so someone who does can give better info there. The 2 serve different purposes. Transposer is really for people who do their animation or other work in poser and want to render in carrara. The only other reason to use it is for dynamic hair or cloth which native won't do at this point.

Thank you ren_mem

I ordered Carrara 5 Pro Handbook.
It may be useful.

I like the dynamic cloth.
It will be great for animation.

Just keep in mind you will have to be waitiing alot. The dynamic stuff adds alot of overhead in poser and usually worse in other programs.

There's no hierarchy tree for a figure imported via transposer as it'll be just one solid object... That's the purpose of transposer, getting the object in Carrara look exactly the same like in Poser so it's "exported" as a solid object from the poser part of Transposer...
