It seems to be a problem with e-frontier, that still does not have the SDK (Software Developper Kit) available for the people that would have to update the Transposer 2 plugin. So, the support is not complete. But the majority of improvements in Poser 6 were the internal render capabilities. You have to have Poser5 to point C4's Transposer part to, to use it. Good luck!

I do render everything in Carrara 4Pro. But lately I have not been doing a lot of Poser stuff (no time and back problems). But Mon Star was rendered in Carrara, I composited multiple renders in Photoshop, so this might not be the best representation... If you go to the galleries here and select the topic Carrara/RDS you can pick out the ones with Poser figures in them.Attached Link: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=887298&Start=1&Artist=DustRider&ByArtist=Yes&Form.se
Here is a WIP I did in CS4 using HDRI. The sword needs adjusting, but it gives you and idea of what HDRI and global illumination can do for poser figures in Carrara. As mentioned above, you can usually bring P6 scenes into CS with Transposer if you have P5 installed, and point transposer to the P5 poser.exe. IMHO the render engine in CS4 is much better than P6, and the results from HDRI and global illummination in CS4 can be outstanding. Plus, with CS4 you have a very powerful additional tool set available. The sword in the image was created in CS, and the cloths were done using CS and C4D.

Here is a recent image I rendered withCP4 with figure and building from Poser 6 ...HOWEVER I have had no success getting the included poser6 figures "james& jessie" into Carrara pro they wont come in for some reason Oh And I agree that CP4's true HDRI and GI blows away poser6 and its ,slow as winter molassas!!! , IBL and AO render options :-/Message edited on: 09/21/2005 12:53
Carrara Pro 4 does not support Poser 5 hair. You need TransPoser 2 to import Poser 5 hair into Carrara Pro 4.

Jim Burton's Glamorous Jessi (GJ) is P5 compatible, and works very well in P5 and CS4. GJ's joints are much better than the standard Jessi, but she has more of a "super model" figure which some people don't like :).
This image is of GJ, rendered in CS4 with HDRI/GI. There was very little teaking of the textures (about 2 min worth), and a total setup time in CS of about 10 min. I thought this minimal effort would be a good exaple how easily decent renders can be obtained in CS. With a little more work, the image would be MUCH better.
The outfit was made by me in Hexagon (by Eovia), and the building is "The Street Corner" RubiconDigital by Stefan Kotuziak. The scene was set up in P5, imported into CS4Pro with Transposer2 (note the dynamic hair).

It needs more refinement on the lighting. But IMHO I think it's another good example of how easy it is to get respectable renders of Poser scenes in CS almost "straight out of the box".

The SDK is available but from the rumors I have heard it costs more then the current value of Transposer (ie. they'd likely have to greatly increase the prize of transposer and thus make it beyond the reach of most that would use it) This is all assumption on my part from various comments I've heard.

Yes, you can reinstall P5 and share the same runtime(s). I have P4(PP), P5, and P6 installed. You can "link" P5 to your P6 runtime, and P6 to your P5 runtime. Just make sure that when you reinstall P5 that it is installed in a folder with a unique name (i.e. poser5 rather than just poser) so it doesn't overwrite your P6 install. The default install folder for P6 may be poser6, but I don't remember for sure. I do remember some chatter about some issues with V3 and P5 that you might want to look in to. I think you need to make sure that the delta (injection) !DAZ folders for the DAZ generation 3 figures (V3, M3, etc.) need to be copied to your P5 runtime for things to work properly with characters using injection poses (see link).__________________________________________________________
