Subject: Multiple Selection [SHIFT]

Hi All, Is there a way to do 'Multiple Selection [SHIFT]' with just tablet without using a keyboard?

Hoofdcommissaris ( ) posted Thu, 30 June 2005 at 3:02 AM

Maybe you can assing SHIFT to one of the buttons?

GWeb ( ) posted Thu, 30 June 2005 at 4:15 AM

How?

Do you have a Wacom Pen? Somewhere there is probably a small program (or a large preference panel) on your computer that can do that. I have (on Mac OSX) assigned ENTER and double click to my button.

I have Tablet PC. I just do not like to use the keyboard panel. I was hoping an easy way to use shift. I really wish that Eovia implemented 'mirror pointers' so that I do not have to use shift the whole time for each side(s).

They did, kind of. But in Hexagon.

I dont like Hexagon too many complicated tools. You know some people say Hexagon is so powerful just because of complicated tools are there and never used it. It should be simple with basic and essential tools for modeling necessarity.

It sounds like you should try Silo. For organic modelling with symmetry and a simple clean interface I think it's hard to beat.

Well. For me Hexagon is simple with basic and essential tools for modelling necessity. Every tool is for modelling, but you need to switch to a slightly different way of thinking to get a new way of modelling. (look at the video on box modelling the flying car on the site, it shows how easy the 'mirrorred' manipulation works) If you like vertex modelling (I always used spline modelling because I did not grasp it), once you know where the tools are, the Cararra vertex modeller feels very clunky. It is extremely fast in Hexagon once you get your head around it. It's not the tools that are complicated, every tool does simple things. The complicated thing is to find out what tool to use in what situation. I don't think peope find Hexagon powerful of the 'complicated tools' but because of the powerful possiblities it offers. And the time it saves. Take 'loop' 'over n' or 'ring' selection, or extracting lines, or filletting or chamfering. It was never part of the VM in Carrara, so they may look complicated, but used once you can not model without them. But of course there is no reason to use Hexagon if you are happy with the Vertex modeller. I would not be happy with not using my left hand while working in any software, so I guess everybody has his or hers preferences :-)

I ve played with spline modelling for several years. Beazer curve controls and symmeterical in it are really nice. But, not all axis are avialable in it. I get annoyed when I find something missing in it. I submitted Eovia several times to get it fixed but they never get around to it. I also submitted Eovia for Spline Modeling programmable extensions license and they said no. I wonders when Eovia will ever get around to upgrade Spline and Vertex. Both room really need to get combined together so it can get symerical and beazer control in the vertex modeling room it would meet all my modelling necessity.

How do you get pointers mirrored in Hexagon anyways?

sparrownightmare ( ) posted Tue, 05 July 2005 at 8:51 PM

I don't get vertex that well either. I actually prefer the old Ray Dream modeler, it was easier to use and visually less cluttered and confused. If Im in drawing plane I only want to see one section at a time. In C4 you get a cunfused jumble you have to constantly play with the viewing angle to make sure you arent on the wrong spline.

Hoofdcommissaris ( ) posted Wed, 06 July 2005 at 3:26 AM

You can choose if you want to see one section at a time: Sections -> Show -> Current /All

HmmmI'll try it, I didn't see that before. It's always the little things you overlook, isn't it? Thanks
