Nick's Notes:<br /> Networking

May 30, 2006 at 12:00 am by nickcharles

In a world of constant change, there are no guarantees. We must keep up with advances in technology, the latest trends, keep the food on the table, and our own sanity. We simply cannot live unaided, unacknowledged, or for sanity's sake, as just a number. We may not all rise above the rest, but we can certainly find our place in this world. It's all back to basics, really. It comes right on down to simple human contact.

You may have heard the phrase, "It's who you know." This is absolutely true. We all need help at some point in our lives, be it support, encouragement, or even finding a job. We need a feeling of importance, or being connected. We need to connect, in order to get where we want to go, and be who we want to be.

With the advent of the Internet, it's never been easier to get connected. Everyone needs to know someone, or know someone who knows someone else. Networking can help get you wherever you want to go. Networking is the way to go. It's not just a cold world of computers. Every day, real humans are reaching out to other real humans all over the world through the use of computers.

Imagine, if you will, that the people you are in contact with, are also in contact with many others. This brings you many more possibilities, as your list grows. It is not too hard to imagine that, through contacts of yours, someone you may have never met before might turn out to be your greatest help. It's what networking is all about. It is in this way, that we can all help each other.

Every day, there are networks of people with similar interests forming all over the world, sharing in knowledge, help, support, and friendship. Renderosity is no exception. Whether you are here to earn or learn, you are, in fact, networking with others.

If you are into art as a hobby, you have the chance to share your work, get feedback, and learn to grow in your art. If you're interested in how something is done, there is plenty of help available. Ask questions. If someone doesn't know, they may be able to point you to someone else who does.

If you are looking at a career in art, you have abundant opportunities to talk with others that can lead you to work, offer advice, or point you in the right direction. Opening lines of communication, we can reach our own personal goals, whatever they may be. Everything can become an opportunity.

Of course, there's always room for a few tips:

  1. Always be courteous.
  2. Always treat others with respect.
  3. Always be willing to offer help any time you can.
  4. Most importantly, never burn your bridges.

It's an ever-changing world out there. You never know where your road may lead, or what you will be doing later on. Around every corner is a new discovery, so keep those lines of communication open. Connect with others, and you never know...you might have just met your new best friend, business partner, or lead to your dream job.

We invite you to tell us how networking has helped you here on Renderosity.
