Description

Hi everyone. This is my personal tribute to what is, IMO, one of the best design factories all over the world, Boffi. Please note that the design of this bathroom IS NOT MINE, but theirs, and please refer to www.boffi.com to see other exquisite examples of balance, class and minimalism in interior design. The only thing I have added to the original reference is the glass towel hanger in the middle: I wanted something to break the eyepath (and something to hang my towels on, if this bathroom was mine, LOL). _____ My training with Maya continues. For the first time I used a mental ray specific material (dielectric, for the glass) and I found it a bit confusing, so please if someone can point me a tutorial or a website that discusses MR specific materials and how to use them in Maya, I'll be very grateful. Really :) _____ There's no direct light source in the scene, light is provided by three very bright panes (ambient=1, incandescence=1) surrounding the bathroom. There's a point light, intensity 0, set to emit only caustic and globillum photons. Rendered with Mental Ray with high FG settings in about 3 hours. _____ Thanks for your attention, I hope you're all well and right and bright. I continue to stole connection time from friends (thanks Mauro and Carlotta!) and I'm commenting and browsing all I can, so please be patient and soon I'll be back like before. As always, any comment or suggestion on how to improve the image is more than welcome. Take care, Stefano :)

You sure look like you're learning fast. Cool lighting, but even back in your bryce days, that was one of your strongpoints.

Well if I knew anything about Mental Ray I'd certainly help you, but I'm as blind as a bat in that area. Beautiful design, excellently rendered, and you continue to impress me with the speed you have in aquiring skills with Maya. Be well and happy Stefano. 8)

Very nice image. I would gladly help you out with the Mental Ray issues if I knew anything about them.... but alas I must admit I don't know anything about Mental Ray. Great to see you forging ahead as you are with Maya. You are doing some amazing stuff with it. Keep on learning my friend. V

I think I like the glass towel rack the best of this image actually. You have done a great job on the rest but I want one of those towel racks!

Maya is showing your style nicely! The towel rack is an exceptional touch and strategically placed!!! I'll just go and build me, this bathroom! Can I have Light blue, instead of green?
