Description

Olympic National Park/Hoh Rain Forest I used a technique I just learned from the Dec. 03' edition of my "PCPhoto" Magazine. The techniqe is Titled "Density Mask", by columnist Lewis Kemper. It is basically a simple techniqe to correct underexposed photos by using a negative b&w copy of the origional as an adjustable mask...I think it's so cool...I'm thinking of e-mailing Mr. Kemper to say "this is cool technique!...-Peace :-)" LewisKemper.com I used PS6, but this technique would work fine w/psp, elements, as well as an array of similar graphic programs. Please let me know if you would like me to forward the complete instructions to you. I would be more than happy to do so. I am not sure that this photo here was the best example for for this procedure, but it did make quite a difference in lightening up the more-dark areas of the photo. The Elk, and Trees were really dark to begin with...also this is only my second photo I've done this to. Thanks for looking, -Peace :-)

Hey, nice strong looking Elk, even though it has sensed your presence and leaving your sight! Thanks for the tip by Lewis Kemper...went to his url and saved the pdf files for creating masks. Haven't worked with masks as of yet, just the channels and various tools to enhance images.
