Description

Every year just before or after our Christmas of December 25, we drive around and look for neat and sometimes lovely Chrsitmas lighting. I was a little distracted tonight and while shooting manual focus messed up most photos. This one is noisy but was a warming view, a seller of antiques on a market street of a small town. Most of the stores were neatly decorated for the season. Small homes around town were also tastefully lit. Many of the really cartoonish ones we saw last year were turned off for the season, a few days too late to photograph. I imagine families tonight in those homes, gathering for New Years arrival and some getting ready for bed long before midnight. I will go to bed prior to the arrival of 2011 and hope to sleep. As for the job thing, yes, my employer came in just as I was getting ready to leave for home today and told me I no longer have a job. This will take getting used to and I don't want to drive my wonderful wife into hiding in the meantime. Why did it happen? I really do not know but suspect. This is no place for "suspect" and the need now is ahead, not behind. Meaning a job and income. Tomorrow will be a new day, indeed. I will likely delete this downer text soon enough. For the moment, I had to say something.

Oh man...THAT really wasn't a good way to end the day...I hope that you are able to find something soon. So many people have been let go it's terrible. Keep your eyes open...and your chin up. Good things come to good people.

This is a wonderful photo; I love the lighting, the focus, the warmth of it. This has such a human feeling to it and I much prefer displays such as this to the garish and cartoonish displays that seem to dominate the season. This has substance, form, and a certain measure of elegant grace. As for the news accompanying this, I know your feeling. Though I have a job, it's wholly inappropriate and so I'm looking for a new one. I always believed that something ending as the year ends is a promise of something else opening as the new year opens. Good things come. I've learned that as I always found something unexpected in the most unexpected places...usually after the advent of something unpleasant. This is a wonderful shot and I hope that 2011 is a far better year than 2010.

The lighting is warming and the quiet of the closed shop and empty sidewalk gives it a feeling of being suspended in time...waiting for something. You are an incredible man, Mr. Tom Dart. You are highly skilled and extremely intelligent...there is an employer out there searching for you. Soon you will find him.

Sorry I missed this. I remember visiting you here and you showing me your work area, I was very impressed with the work you did, and I sure hope you will find a new position. No warning or nothing? That is pretty cold. Good luck to you my friend.
