Description

Have they no pride? Captured 10/28/10, early in the morning, within walking distance of my gravid habitat. A pile of gar-bah-sge that has existed and remained static for months on end. It is located at the end of a driveway that is adjacent to two houses, one in front by the street, and the other in the back, to the left of this mess. Ironically, the houses and lawn are well maintained, with well kept late model cars parked in front. And I assume the trash barrels next to the pile are emptied each week on trash collection day. An anomaly, to be sure. Anyway, after passing this eyesore week after week, I finally decided to ninja my way into the backyard one morning and take some studied snaps of this detritus. My living room may be a mess with all kinds of electronic equipment, but this has it beat by miles. It was relatively dark that morning, which called for considerable postwork on my part. Aloha, thankx for popping in, and for any and all complimentary comments and faves.

Wow...amazing that people just walk/drive by this every day and yet their lawns are taken care of and they drive nice cars... It is amazing the amount of stuff that we throw away!! You can even make pics of trash interesting, LOL!

I just don't understand how people can live with that kind of garbage around them. Have they no pride whatsoever? It would take ten minutes to clean that up. Great Ninja work, Harry.

A sad state of affairs Harry. If they lived in my community, they would be fined and not cheap. Dana

Looks like someone cleaned out an abandoned house and just dumped it all there. I wonder why they don't put it in the bins? Great ninja work, Harry!

It will likely just stay that way unless you clean it up yourself. I've done a fair bit of that in my own neighborhood using my home-made trash picker and a couple of plastic bags. It started several interesting conversations once people realized I was not a city worker. Ha ha!

Well, it is colorful:) But powerfully annoying. It must be a case of out of sight, out of mind. Maybe you could drop off one of these pics to the appropriate city department...I am sure there is an ordinance to prohibit this as a matter of public health.

First, Harry, I have heard about the rains & floods in your part of the world, and I hope you're ok, and anyone else you know & care about. I heard it hit LA and surroundings and that it's torrential. Besides, I know you struggle with pain & a bad back & all related matters, so I hope these rains aren't making it worse; and I hope that you're safe & sound for the holiday & for your birthday...As for the shot, I'm always glad you get shots like these because this is what cities do, it's just good reporting. It's a classic urban spill which you've captured nakedly; it must be an area that the city doesn't care about---maybe one of the owners angered the city, maybe there's a political matter, or maybe it requires private pickup & the offenders didn't want to pay or just moved out...who knows. But the fun is, the shot raises those questions and doesn't answer them: Life in the big city. (As Marilyn said, great urban shot.) And btw, kudos on making a dark shot so clear & bright: When I brighten that much, the pics look like they've been bleached by a nuclear blast. It's also fun to see what's tossed here---some of those things still look usable. Another fine ninja capture of everyday life from you. Gracias, friend...I wasn't ready to finish commenting yet, but I heard the news just now & wanted to wish you well with the floods. Fine capture, and my wishes that you stay safe & out of harm's way.

Well, this is another side of human behaviour. Pll like 'them' should be panished by their own mess. Good old infection would teach them to be tidy.

They have three trash cans what is the problem. I only have one and we manage to get all our trash out each week. I do have a neighbor that is a bit peculiar he will spend hours in his yard, cleaning mowing, trimming but then leave the trimming from bushes just laying there for days, makes you wonder about how people think. Hope you are surviving the weather.
