Description

Here i at the begaining of my photo shoot of this gun. i now not all people like guns and many countrys you can not have a gun. I got a lot of comments which is fine and thank you all for them. It to me a free world and say what is true to you. But please do not think U.S.A. is bad because athe news put all the bad stuff for all to see. I with my own eyes in Paris france in the subway saw a man pull a big knife on the well to do looking man as he walked by. The well to do man pull a gun out and the knife man ran away then. that crime was stop by a gun. I know in France you have to have a premint to own a gun and to carry one too. I know not if this gun man had the paper work but he saved himself from robby or even body hurt. I know I open the can of worms when I give a talk on guns a few images back. or even posting this gun here. Please before you past judgement on U.S.A. look at these words in google tournante gang rape It world wide and the news is not reporting this evil and cops in a lot of places not even looking into it. where is the women right movement on this? Where is the law? If there is no law who going to help you? I not saying too take the law into your own hands but something need to be done. If you can vote; vote out the bad people and hope you get a good people in office. All I did was put time to good use here and took some photos of something that came to mind. I wish to show people when the weather is bad outside you can still shoot wonderful photos. I read a lot of people here on RR that can not get outside to take phots. i just wish to show people you take photos anytime you wish if your camera is working and you have a light souce and have a Idea. thanks for looking and comment. i take any comment good or bad

I realy like your attitude. Nothing wrong with USA! Australia just as bad or good on this matter. We need licence here to own a gun(s)and have to go to the club 6 times minimum a year to show actually we are practice a target shooting sport(the target not human form just black circles with numbers on it)and not just having a gun "under the pillow". You do a wonderful job with these still shots and a candle realy a great idea. I have a some gun shots myself and I handle a theme as I would shoot a tea cup with some cookies in a light box, no different, I don't feel I have a treat it special just because a gun. Sorry for a long comment.

Your art of this piece is fantastic and bring slight to the cold steel that it has. Splendid shot!

Stellar lighting effects in this shot, Jock! Great glint off the metal. You don't to apologize or rationalize for owning a weapon to protect yourself. No matter your size, a gun is a great equalizer.

Jocko, I was raised in a family of 8 children that were spread from the early 1940's to the early 60's. A rifle meant food for us to eat from hunting. "Guns" have several purposes to many folks. Some think they were all made to kill. Some are made to be looked at, some to use. My brother used to shoot target competition and put a lot of money into this. Only to prove his ability to hold steady and be on target perfectly. No intention of hurting anything. Every item man makes is a tool for some purpose. I like the camera best. Some use a camera to hurt others in many ways. Your work is great, keep up your passion of art.

Very cool how the focus is a little bit soft except super crisp on the chamber.

Excellent lighting setup, Jock. Really gives a soft effect to the barrel of the gun.

Wonderful work, Jock. Very cool way you play with this composition and scenario. It looks fantastic, even with the few means you use. Simple and strong work. My only wish about violence is... That people will start to vote differently... Globalization, lawyers, politicians and capitalists, cause it. Law and order can be kept... But a efficient police force cost a lot of money... Most will vote to get more money in their own pocket i believe. Less lawyers... more realistic justice and laws.. And people willing to pay the price, from their personal pocket... That is what it takes to eliminate violence. In my oppinion. #;o)+5

super experiment with lighting. the thing that bothers me with the proliferation of guns is that during a heated moment of argument, people will pull their gun and kill. of course knifes can kill also, but guns makes it too easy. Texas has taken the law too far with people being able to shoot if they think they are threatened.this will lead to an obvious excuse to murder. I can only imagine how long before someone cuts another car off on the free way on (purpose or accident)and they will shoot claiming they felt threatened. if you accidentally bump into someone in a store and they pull their gun because they felt threatened they say more people are killed by family or friends than strangers

Heavy stuff you talk about here, Jock, but the bottom line is people make those choices. I don't like guns at all, but respect those who have them and only hope they use them properly. That said, this is a great shot, the light is amazing!

Jock, you are a prime example of a mind that never stops. Your creativity with your photos is beyond my imagination. Your work with black lights and neon will always be something I reflect on when I'm running low on ideas. Your work with FIRE is always on my mind! :-) You really do show everyone here that sometimes thinking WAY outside the box can bring photos to a new level. Inside or out, in good or bad weather, you always entertain. This is a great shot. The gun debate will rage on. But, remember two things... American was founded by people who had been denied the right to bear arms and we fixed that. AND one of the tactics used in feudalism was for the peasants to be denied the right to arm themselves so that the lords would not have the threat of their serfs revolting in any manner that could not be squashed quickly and efficiently. The distribution of guns is an assignment of who has power over another, whether we like that or not. I respect all people their freedom to think and reason as they see fit. That is why there are so many different countries and types of goverment to run them. I'll get off my soap box now. I'll just pick up my peace symbol earrings and Make Love Not War posters and slink on off into the sunset... LOL
