Description
Another character study. Focused a lot of energy on the expression for the hatchling. Wanted an almost "feel-good" type image instead of my usual "angry face" that I usually do for fantasy or SciFi. LOL. Tried to get that puppy getting scratched behind the ear type feel.
Tried not overdo this image. Some of my work of late has been overdone and rushed so needed to get back to simple composition and focus of the little things, pose, expression, lighting and mood. Quite happy with this one. Used HDRI for this which meant a 4 day render!!!

88 HOURS!!! i would go mad!!!!!!! i rendered something yesterday that took 8 hours and i was bouncing of the walls!!! this was well worth it i think!!!!! his expression is priceless! the lighting is just perfect! great work!
Exellent, its such a joy to be presented with these two characters who are obviously enjoying themselves despite such an inhospitable environment, lovely lighting too. The hatchlings face is priceless!
Very good-I particularly like the definition to the stomach area that the ovehead lighting gives. I tried lowering the quality slider on the IBL control page-took it to zero on my "Queen of Swords" pic, which reduced the render time considerably with no loss of quality which I could discern. Worth considering. Was the steam added in post?

I agree with Paul Francis about mid-body lighting. I like the light on here tummy so much I would recomment toning done the light on her face to match. Super, super render.
