Description

Hi good people, this is a photo I took in October when I was to Kansas visiting my family. The Keeper of the Plains was donated to the city of Wichita by Creator, Blackbear Bosin. Bosin, from the Comanche and Kiowa tribes, was born in Oklahoma but made his home in Wichita in 1940 until his death in 1980. The Keeper of the Plains is his only know sculpter. The 44 ft tall, 5-ton sculpture was completely cut, welded and assembled in the shop and moved in one piece to the location. The Keeper sat on the intersection of the Big and Little Arkansas River for 31 years. Now it's been moved and built up on this rock because it was lost in the weeds and trees were you could no longer see him. I did do some cloning out of crane and wires and construction clutter to make it a better picture. Hope you find it interesting. Thanks for stopping by. Any comments welcomed:0)bonita

This is a beautiful capture, and sculputre, Bonita! I very much like the feeling here. Like he is a protector for the surrounding countryside and all who dwell there. I am glad he was brought to this rock and can be seen clearly now. Such beauty we live with!! We only have to look for it. Wonderful work, have a beautiful day. Hugs. Di and Sir David.

The staue is forming a magnificent silhouette against the blue skies. It is good to know it is once again towering for all to see. Congratulations being selected for LWitG!
