Description

Your body lying there Tired, broken Unable to move from the lack of energy Only your eyes blink blink blink. I hold your hand Feel it icy Almost dead already. My heart rips into jagged chunks bleed pain I feel so angry yet so sad and frustrated. lumps of tears threaten grow overflow I smile at you a bit of light in this dark time of pain. I stroke your dull lifeless hair trembling tenderly Your will to live stays strong as you die Body shutting down liver kidneys heart I hold your hand Feel it icy Your eyes shut. ********************* I was doing research into one of my characters of my Nanowrimo novel who has cancer. The words and description wouldn't fit into the story until I cleared the blockage with this poem. Sorry to depress everyone but I had to share it. Hugs all!

Very moving Sue. I have had my more than my fair share of encounters with the big C, through relatives. Excellent! Steve :o)

Sad indeed, and very moving, and stark in its honesty. I suspect, though, that this is the only way to approach cancer - head on and hard. Very well written. Mike

Beautiful poem and very moving, takes me straight back to sitting in hospital watching my Mum pass away from the terrible disease. Very well written.

"It is a sad world in which we live sometimes." -- Yes, Susi!, it sometimes is. WOnderfully, written work! Even one, small comment or encouraging remark given to others may get someone through an otherwise difficult day or time period. T.P.

Susi, This really hits home for me. I had a friend who died of cancer a couple of years ago. She was 33 and left a husband and two little girls behind. She fought to live, but as we all know, cancer is not a respecter of persons. Most of the time, I can't think of her without crying. She loved life so much. (By the way, I have done NaNoWriMo too.)
