Description
So a few people asked me to share my "Secret" formula for waves in Bryces...
actually an Alpha showed up at my house, and told me to share it..or else!
; )
HOW TO MAKE WAVES IN BRYCE
(And rock the boat!)
1) Open terrain editor
2) Select fractal sub-menu from the editor box
3) Select Mordor from the drop-down list
4) Click on the fractal button until you get an image close to the one in this example
5) Close terrain editor
6) Adjust height (Low) like in image displayed
7) Duplicate and use editing tools to flip on X
8) Duplicate and use editing tools to flip on Y
9) Duplicate and use editing tools to flip on X
Flipping the edges around to match symmetrically like in the image displayed.
Once you've madeand grouped a quadrant like above, you can duplicate and tile the sea...
Add ocean texture, "Deep Sea" works best I think.
Now please call your Alpha back?!?!
; )

Very cool of you to share ! --I wish all tutes were as easy to understand !
mmm...waves for Dummies, NO, NO, NO... all you need is a rather large elephant and a stepladder ! actually I also wack in a crust tex moving the opposite direction, thanx Eric for the tut ~Cheers~ :o)
Whoa! COOL! I always just try it with one terrain and it never looks quite right. Ok, now I'm gone to play with Bryce! Thanks!!
really super of you to share. I will save just in case I break open Bryce again
Waited for the thumb to move but no dice, unless it's one of those very long intervals. You mean Bryce has a Terrain editor? Geez, what'll they think of next? How about collision detection and wrapping---betcha you could make one helluva dropcloth if you set your mind to it, hehe.
LOL :) When I make waves my boss threatens to fire me.
very cool!! i shall have to get bryce and try it sometime... ...!!
Great tip Eric, and it will work the same in Vue!
Okay, I'll recall the Alpha. Thanks for the tips!
Interesting tutorial! BRAVO!
Thanks, great tutorial
I'm lost.
Perfect tut, thanks. We're going to see some wild wave images the next weeks ;-)
Thank you so much for sharing your method in your tutorial!
I have been using Bryce for almost 3 years now and I have never ever done this. Thank you!! I have to give it a try :)
I like that idea of tiling the four terrains. I will have to try that on my next waves picture. Also want to mention that the 'Pocked' fractal generator makes very realistic waves too.
Excellent tutorial ... guess I'd better dust off Bryce and see if I can enjoy even a fraction of your success. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the information mate. Will come in handy. Bravo!!!...:))
I love this! I have written the information down! Much thanks to you!
Super tutorial there prof! I had an idea of how to do it, but this really lays it all out there. Will have to remember this page, don't delete your gallery! =oP
As Rozanne I'm totally lost... but must be great for Bryce fans.
Most interserting and I thank you for the hint of information.
Thanks much for this will put to good use.
Nice one! If I ever get around to using Bryce (Had it for over a year and never even installed it), I'll know what to do.
Thanks for the tip!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you Eric!
I made waves and DID get fired! This way will likely work much better, thanks!
