Subject: Do you hate to switch off IK every time loading Victoria ?

RalfU ( ) posted Tue, 12 February 2002 at 5:56 PM · edited Fri, 14 November 2025 at 6:28 PM

I don't know if this one has posted before, but i just found out how it works. If you like to have Victoria 2 loaded with switched off Inverse Kinematics by default, then try this one out. Open the Victoria 2.cr2 file with an Etitor and find the following lines in the "figure" section (almost down at the bottom)and change them: addChild lFoot:1 BODY:1 Change to: "lShin:1" addChild lToe:1 lFoot:1 inkyChain LeftLeg Change to: "Left_Leg" { on Change to: "off" name LeftLeg Change to: "Left_Leg" addLink lThigh:1 addLink lShin:1 goal lFoot:1 linkWeight 0 1 linkWeight 1 0.2 } inkyChain RightLeg Change to: "Right_Leg" { on Change to: "off" name RightLeg Change to: "Right_Leg" addLink rThigh:1 addLink rShin:1 goal rFoot:1 linkWeight 0 1 linkWeight 1 0.2 } Happy rendering

Well, yes. But since I have to turn off the damnable IK in all the shoes and socks and dresses, I'll be in the menu-bar anyway.

Traveler ( ) posted Tue, 12 February 2002 at 10:34 PM

Well you could use it as a pose file too: { version { number 4.01 } figure { inkyChain LeftLeg { off } inkyChain RightLeg { off } inkyChain LeftHand { off } inkyChain RightHand { off } } copy that text, and save it as a .pz2 and it will turn off IK chains for any figure, that uses the standard set-up :)

Thanks for the pose, Traveler.

Thanks Trav :)

Traveler Excuse the ignorance but I'm new to all this :o) To save as a pz2 would I; Duplicate an existing pz2, open it in a text editor, replace the whole file (?) with er... what you just said, and then save? Or have I got totally the wrong idea? I'm on a Mac with Poser3. Baz

gryffnn ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 6:41 AM

Hi Baz - exactly. On a Mac, I use the free BBEditLight as a text editor and always copy an existing pz2, rename and change/replace the text, then Save.

Traveler ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 8:43 AM

Yes that will work, just save it as another name as gryffnn suggests.

BazC ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 12:15 PM

Thanks a lot! I'll give it a try. Baz

wyrwulf ( ) posted Wed, 13 February 2002 at 10:13 PM

I tried it, and it added another set of IK without changing the original IK of the figure. I used P4 nudefem (Posette), but didn't try it on any other figures.

BazC ( ) posted Thu, 14 February 2002 at 3:56 PM

Wyrwulf, I've got the same problem. I'm on a mac using Poser3. What's your set up? I've just heard from Eowyn and hers works fine on a PC running Poser4 Baz

Xena ( ) posted Thu, 14 February 2002 at 5:05 PM

Try adding a third bracket on the end. Macs are a lot harsher when it comes to exact files.

wyrwulf ( ) posted Thu, 14 February 2002 at 8:36 PM

I'm on a PC. I will have a fiddle with it this weekend when I have some time.

Xena ( ) posted Thu, 14 February 2002 at 10:54 PM

It worked perfectly for me on my PC. So well in fact I even make a nice little rsr to go with it LOL (Poser 4.03, Win2k - haven't tried it in Pro Pack yet) Let us know how you go wyrwulf. I'd be interested to see how what the problem is.

wyrwulf ( ) posted Fri, 15 February 2002 at 12:00 AM

I forgot to add that I'm running Poser4 with the latest patch. I tried the third bracket, didn't work. I wonder if it's got anything to do with tabs and spaces.

Xena ( ) posted Fri, 15 February 2002 at 12:29 AM

But why would it work for me and not you? Weirdness prevails once again. Poser is pure evil LOL

JeffH ( ) posted Fri, 15 February 2002 at 1:05 AM

You have to create an IK on/off Pose for each figure type: Posette, Victoria, Michael. Each IK chain is unique. I have a whole set of these in a tool kit myself. -JeffH.

And in walks Jeff with all the answers :)
