Been lurkin here for several months now, only showin my face to reply to Tesign a few times. I'm figuring I should bug ALL of you fun and talented folks. Why only pic on Bill? Just got my upgrade to Vue4 installed today. Isn't it supposed to render faster? Seems like I'm sitting here waiting for a test render, just as long as before. That's okay, the new features look great! Anyway, my work week was just cut back 20%, so I should have more time now for creating Vue4 scenes, and driving y'all nuts with my dumb comments. Hope no one minds. DigReal

Hey Dig! How's it working for ya? (besides the rendering problem). And I KNOW it's not because you don't have enough ram!! You could give me half of yours and still have plenty ;). You happy with it? Laurie

Ummmm, happy with which, Laurie.. Vue 4, or my obscene levels of ram? lol Haven't decided, yet. It's great not having to worry 'bout multi levels of trans... I can play with all kinds of atmospherics now. That alone is worth it. Haven't tried SolidGrowth2 yet. I prefer to create each of my trees, to have more uniqueness, but I'll be mixing Vue and Xfrog, now. Dig

The volumetric lights and atmospheres will add to the render time, so if you're using those, you might be cancelling-out the benefits of the faster engine. Oh, you can close the mini-preview and that might speed things a bit. Why only pic on Bill? Because picking on Bill is so much fun? ;) Welcome aboard, Dig!

Heee x3!...look who's here! By the way, what is the copy number on your Vue first 100 owner's certificate. Mine is No. 37. As for speed, I do feel that there is some increase overall. I can't say anything about speed for Volumetric stuff rendering as there is nothing to compare with previous version. One thing for sure though, beats the hell out of Bryce 4 when rendering speed for volumetric is concern. Have to check Bryce 5 out on this one if they have a new rendering engine. One thing I must admit is that...I prefer Bryce Volumetric clouds better. How's Xfrog doing with Vue? Have not try it yet, probably will, very soon...just love those trees from Xfrog! CAn't wait for their new release of tree library...all tropical fuit trees :) Varian..just a gentle note...errr...I luv running over beautiful fence, including "barb" wires type when I get bullied to the edge of the cliff...LOL! Have fun too :)

Thanks for the welcome, Varian. The only problem with picking on Bill is, well... he's so damn good! Bill.. Tesign.. I ordered from up north, here in the states. So I'm way over 100! Xfrog trees look excellent! I can do whatever I want to the atmosphere and they don't get 'gunked up'. Poser folks must love this. I wasn't using the volumetrics, at first. Just played with the standard atmosphere. Right now I'm running a volumetric atmosphere.. looks soooo cool. I'm having a hard time getting the sky color right, though, but it's close. Dig

Mine is over 100, too, phooie. I waited too long before I made my order. Nice to know that so many have been sold so quickly, though! :) Bill, don't you be mean to my beautiful, beautiful fence! Otherwise I'll have to explain to Dig about how you live upside down and operate Vue with chopsticks! ;)

tesign ( ) posted Sun, 01 July 2001 at 12:03 AM

Eh Varian!...I said "beautiful" fence, not "beautiful beautiful"...so, your's safe ;-)

Varian ( ) posted Sun, 01 July 2001 at 12:33 AM

Hey Dig, forget anything I said about chopsticks. That was, um, my evil twin typing. Yeah, that's what it was. 0:)
