Subject: Fitting Room and Dawn 2

In the absence of a Evilinnocense Xdresser License for Dawn 2, I thought I would resort to the Poser 13 Fitting Room. 

The result was and is, an absolute disaster. Here you can see the result of the V4 Clothing Assembly on Dawn 2. The same goes for

any conforming clothing,  I try to fit to Dawn 2. The second I try to conform the newly made clothing, this happens. 

Really frustrating to use Dawn 2 without any support anywhere


Suggestions welcome.

After you leave the fitting room and conform your newly fitted clothing to Dawn 2 you may have to use the "copy joint zones from" under the figure drop down menu.  Copy the joint zones from the figure you used to fit the clothing to in the fitting room.  I have had good luck with refitting clothing for Dawn 2 using that little trick.

I wish they had a clothing dev mannequin but absent that, using Dawn 2 herself zeroed for fitting clothes has worked fine for me.

I don't have that issue either. I was able to convert a test dress with no problem. I did have a similar issue once with converting some shoes once from Aiko 4 to Miki 4. I ended up having to get them shaped and then exporting them as objs and reimporting them to get them converted, but most times, even with D2, I have no problems. As Molly suggested copy the joint zones after and I'd check the status of these options and see if changing them makes a difference.

Also, did you allow the fitting room to regroup your clothing, or did you tell it not to? D2 has several different bones that V4 doesn't, like a pelvis, 2 abdomens, Chests and necks

The render below is Dawn 2.0 with the AS Stily outfit created for V4.  This same garment has been converted to several different models, including LaFemme.  I used the fitting room as part of the workflow.

Thanks everyone for your answers. Will give your advice a go tomorrow as soon as possible. Had used the fitting room in earlier versions of Poser and generally didn't have

this issue for some reason, though I did prefer using Xdresser for conforming clothing conversions. Haven't used it much therefore. 

AS Stily? That's Aery Soul right? He/She of the avalanche of vendor-names/personalities/aliases, such as Alfaseed, Awful Soul and wotnot?  Very, very distinctive style, though a bit flowery.

Yep.  I went as far as converting the textures for Cycles Superfly rendering.

So, "copy joint zones from" initially caused the app to crash until I realised you have to do it AFTER you conform the piece of clothing. Then it worked for the most

part, though with one t-shirt-like piece of clothing, the arms were out of line, as if the bones were wrong. 

What I also found was, the "copy join zones" did not get saved when I saved the conversion as  a Figure in the library. It is a process that has to be done time and time again. I do remember that differently from older versions of Poser. 

But it works. 

And for me, it is a stop-gap-measure until there is a Xdresser license for Dawn 2. (providing there will be one that is)

Really like Dawn 2 and to some extent, a bit more than with La Femme 1/2. Not really gotten the hang of La Femme's expression chip system, so Dawn 2 is more intuitive to use.

I'm so pleased you are having a bit more success with her!

Remember the "when conforming" checklists under the properties for the clothing, too.  As RedPhantom pointed out, beside using "copy joint zones from", whether or not you have the last two items ("follow origins" and "include translations") checked makes a difference.  I've found sometimes you need them to properly conform to Dawn 2 and sometimes not;  sometimes one of them; and, sometimes both.

All this said, Dawn 2 is a bit wonky but worth the trouble as she bends so nicely and is so pretty.  Such a promising base mesh!

Funnily enough, do have some experience with the "follow origins" and "include translations" with doing conversions from Daz to Poser native. 

I am really fond of Dawn, Dusk and Dawn 2. I often yearn for someone to do a "Die Trying's 182 Morphs" for those figures. (within the realms of geometry) but alas, that falls under strange, cheese induced fever dreams like hypnotising  Maddelirium into making characters for Dawn 2 and La Femme. 

Speaking of eclectic vendors. Has anyone else noticed how Sixus is actually a Poser Ray Harryhausen?

I love creating morphs if someone made a list complete with pictures for me I'd be happy to try. And now that I can get morphs into Poser and have a written process(so I won't forget how I did it) I would create for both programs. Otherwise I'll continue to do what takes my fancy...which can sometimes be odd and unusual.

I really like Dawn, Dusk, Luna and Dawn 2 and would like to see them more highly used.

I believe the problem arises when you apply zero figure to dawn 2 at any point. That turns off all the JCMs.
