*I think its looking just about cluttered enough, and I'm running out of ideas for bits! I cut the drain holes in the hull (scuppers) and a couple of extra cranes too.

*Maybe some electrical break boxes on deck side would busi-up more the spaces...  utility floor boxes... storing life vest..  Ammo boxes...  tubing,! electrical,,, etc...   now there is a popular Item on ships...

Thanks for sharing this project. Very clean, yet so dense in details. It's a beauty!

I am quite secure in saying that this is a beautiful model!

Is it possible to take something this intricate and actually map it?  I mean, wouldn't it take longer to put the graphics together, than it would take to create the model?

Thanks guys! I'm loving her myself I have to say. I've gotten far more into this project than I had intended.
As for mapping? Whew, thats a tough one. I dont really know if it is possible, but I'm going to give it a go. I'm going to break it down into small chunks and see how it works out. I'll keep you posted.

Awww, shucks! Here is a first shot at the easy bits. The hull didn't mesh right so I have to re-do it, but its going to look great I think.

Ran into a major problem with the mesh over the weekend. I offset the hull inwards so that the visable inner side abobe the deck can be textured seperately. I used a very small offset to keep in scale. The inner skin distorted a bit when meshed and I was left with inner facets sticking out through the outer skin when viewed from the stern. I couldn't get around it and in the end had to remodel the inner walls. I also added a lot more isocurves to the hull which seemed to make the meshing go better. All this took a lot of time to fix, and I have mapped and painted the hull three times. Nearly threw my hat at it, but got there in the end, and its all good learning I guess. I have the main superstructure mapped now too but not painted. Hopefully no more mines floating along....

Endeavor to persevere.  We are all rooting for you.  Think of all the loot you will make when you sell it for a couple grand on Turbo Squid.

Indeed!  Hollywood does!   Check out turbosquid.com.  I have a little sailboat there, and I have made over $350. on it, well worth the simple effort.  Something like your ship would be right up there with the most expensive items listed.
