Hi Everyone,

I see these awesome renders coming out of MAX that have a clay/gray look to them.

Is there any way to achieve this look within Poser 7?
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the materials used along with lighting.
But wasnt sure if you could get that same look in Poser.
I've tried without much luck.

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Clint

Perhaps you could post a render for example?

Yea, That would help wouldnt it.

Well, Stonemason comes to mind.
Here is one of his images posted at R'Osity a while back.

I'm sure you can get an effect similar to that... just a matter of hammering at it for a while. Looks like you'd use a blinn specular node with a really low grey color value and a very wide roll off the highlighting. Something that diffuses the light across the surfaces so as to give the impression of absorbing at least a portion of it. That's where I'd start anyway... -Les

Hey Les,

Ah, Makes sense. I'll play around with that.

IIRC, the "Clay" lighting node is the one you need for this effect.

nruddock,

Thanks! I'll check into that as well.

I thought that was just the default max material , with a slight change in color .

'Scuse my ignorance... what does 'max' material mean?
