I use Get Right as my DL manager. It has a free version, no restrictions. As shareware though, you will definitely run into some "nagging" after a while. It's a low price program if you decide to buy it and register tho. As a dial-up user, that program really comes in handy, but some sites won't accept it, like DAZ, for instance. So I keep my fingers crossed when I can't D/L with Get Right and have to use the system D/L'er.Message edited on: 09/07/2005 14:38

I have used GetRight before and it has always worked well for me. But if you switch to Firefox it natively comes w/ a resumeable download manager included. And its completely free and has no nagwarehttp://www.getfirefox.com/

Much as it pains me to disagree, Firefox is not the most reliable download manager for resuming large DLs. On OS X and Windows, I find that more often than not it restarts from the beginning. On OS X, I trust downloads to Safari, which does resume reliably from most servers. On Windows, I tend towards IE. It's the same issue with which browser you'd use to ftp into a server that requires username/password in the URL: Firefox will show you empty folders and Safari/IE actually connect to the servers enough to authenticate, as does Konqueror in Linux. Some things are, sadly, managed best by the tools written specifically for their target platform by the OS vendors. If there's something I'm overlooking in Firefox, please, someone correct me.
I have to agree, Firefox's download manager is not reliable. I actually have to download my purchases from Renderosity with IE due to problems with Firefox dropping the connection or just hanging in the middle of the download. If you then pause and resume the download (in an attempt to get it to start downloading again), it just stops and says the download is complete, even though you've only got part of the file. It totally screws limited download sites like Renderosity.
If you don't like GetRight's nagging, Download Accelerator Plus can be used free if you can put up with a banner on the application window. It's not a big deal considering you can minimize the program. Just don't tell it to integrate itself with your browser otherwise it'll try to intercept every download and that's not good with sites like Renderosity. Just right click on the link and "Copy link location" to start the download.
Don't use it with Renderosity because download managers are not supported, and it'll screw your download count up without downloading anything.
I used Opera to download mine - the transfer window allows resuming. In fact, since I was doing it at work (thanks, work!) I deliberately stopped the download from time to time so my colleagues could get a look in. :)
Casette, I believe they're offering it to people who may not have - ahem - a "completely legal" version of Poser to upgrade from. In other words, they won't hunt anybody down as long as they buy a nice new upgrade.
But you don't have to be a software pirate to take advantage of this offer. I'm not, and I did. ;) PS: should have said, I got mine direct from e front ear. (As opposed to space, the final front ear). :D

With the current special offer on upgrades to Poser 6, I'm tempted. But it's a huge file, even on Broadband. Things should work OK for CD's worth of data, but I've had connections die mid-download before now, apparently with my ADSL line still working. So, of the various sources, which ones can cope with using a download manager to restart the download? Or which one simply allows more download attempts?
