I'm not sure if this really counts as a toon? Anyway it's a kind of ogre type character. He's fat, lazy, stoopid but powerful and potentially dangerous! :o) I'll try and post some modelling soon! - Baz

Cool...as for toon or not, it all depends on how you do it I think. :)

Cheers Teyon! It's interesting to consider what makes a toon a toon and not a characature, neither is my forte so who knows what this will turn out to be lol! Very early stages of modelling here. This is the first full figure humanoid I've attempted so this may be useful as a "how NOT to do it" thread LOL! I've concentrated on the shoulder area so far as this seems the most difficult bit of the body to get right. I'm copying one of Bay Raitts wires as far as I can (from the "digital sculpting" pdf) Not sure if I've got it right or not, the pics aren't that clear in the pdf. The rest of the topology is a bit of a mess at this point! Trying this in Silo as I've just bought it, trying to get as close to a Wings workflow as possible! :o) Cheers - Baz

looking good..I'd suggest fattening up his legs a bit so he looks like he can carry all that weight. what are you modelling him in? & do you plan to animate him? Cheers Stefan

Hiya Stefan, yeah the legs are really just place markers at the moment, I haven't started to model them properly yet. They'll probably be shorter and stockier than this when they're done and he'll be wearing boots I think :o) I'm modelling in Silo, not my usual app (I'm a Wings man!) I just bought Silo a few days ago cos I like how it's developing, it's a great modeller! Animation? Nah! I've never animated anything in my life and this would be waaay too complex for a first project, I wouldn't even know how to rig him! Cheers - Baz
