Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Apr 21 8:35 pm)
I don't think there is a way around it, jerr3d. I know that all the Poser stuff I have has it's textures in the runtime/textures folder, but most extractors (zips or exe) will create a specific folder within textures, and subfolders as it needs. For example, I may have a DarkWhisper folder under runtime/textures, then for each type of hair texture, separate subfolders under that for slick hair, real curls, etc. So my textures folder has "organized itself" I suppose! I think the pz3 needs to reference textures within the Poser runtime, which is why the textures need to be there. Then when it crosses over to Vue, that allows the pz3 to find what it needs. But not certain how that works; maybe Gebe or one of the other Poser users here could answer. You may also want to ask over at the Poser forum about whether Poser textures need to be inside the runtime.
If you use a PC, your Poser textures can be anywhere on your HD. You just have to create a folder on your HD where you put the textures you need. In Poser, map your object/figure with the textures from this new folder, not from the Poser/textures folder. When you open its Pz3 file in Vue, it will remember the folder where the textures are. Ah, thanks for your replies, but... I guess I should have mentioned I am using a Mac. I also want to avoid having the same texture in two places. And I don't want to move them out of their Runtime/textures/"sub-folder" thus messing up my Poser mat files. I would like Vue to be able to find the textures in the subfolders under Runtime/textures. But it don't want to do that! 8(

HAve a look here. This very special Mac problem has been treated several times in other threads too.

the only way I can get my pz3 files to import into Vue with the textures intact, is if I put the poser textures in my Runtime/textures folder. This has caused my textures folder to be a big mess. Has anyone figured out a way around this?
