Extrude another section from the top of the neck.

Now select these faces and extrude region a few times to produce a head shape. Remember to clean up the polys in the middle of the model as we did before (select faces and dissolve) You'll have to keep tweaking as you go along to get the model looking the way you want it.

You should now have something like this.

The flow of the polys changes rather abruptly where the head meets the neck so we'll move some edges around to mke a smoother flow. Select these edges and connect them.

Now we want to create some new edges (the one's I've coloured green) so select the three points and press c to connect them. Then select the red edge and delete it.

Now select this set of polys. We are going to create the bulge of muscle along the neck.

Extrude them so they look something like this.

A bit more tweaking to refine the shape and you should have something like this. You can use these techniques to add details where you feel the model needs it. Use extrude to finish off the legs and maybe add a tail and you have the basis for almost any four legged animal! Thanks to TRAVISB for creating the original tutorial for Lightwave. Have fun modelling and happy Christmas to everyone! Baz

Once again, excellent job Baz.

I'm not finished, but thought I'd let you know that I've really appreciated this tutorial. Here's what I've done so far.

Redon634, nice work! I'm glad this tut has been of some help, keep at it :o) Twillis, thanks again! If you're still interested in putting this up on your website let me know what format you'd like it in. I suppose you could take it straight off this forum but there are afew typo's! :o) Baz

twillis ( ) posted Sat, 04 January 2003 at 8:36 PM

I can probably take it straight of the forum. I'll probably reformat things, if that OK by you. I'll send you the link when I'm done so you can approve it for general release. Might take me a while though... I actually am experiencing some creativity this weekend and am actually working on a 3D scene!

Excellent! Like to see what you produce. I'm having to leave 3d for a while, too much work on at the moment! :o( Baz
