Thread: Shoot 1000 photos..one is bound to be really good! Really true? | Forum: Photography
Tom, you summarised my thoughts exactly. I still do not get shutter happy with my digital cameras on ground shoots, usually I do have time to search around for the compositions which work and prefer to keep postwork on the pC to a minimum. Getting a grad filter last year was another step to on the spot creation of balanced images.
The exception being action photo assignments.
In the air I have to remind myself to take more when we go to new places.
And shooting a 1,000 in a session wears out the camera faster !

Welcome Thana,
this is a great place to hang out and learn from a friendly bunch and we are better value than a newstand photomag !

Tom, if i could I would ! I have had the filter with me on a few flights but seem to forget to try it out, I will put it on the spare camera and have an experiment. But hand holding will be just a bit outside the possible.

I bought a Cokin Grad filter and I am very pleased with the results. I did find a problem with using the 10-20 mm wide angle when the filter was in the holder and actually showed in the frame. Simple solution, I hold the filter by hand over the lens, very very easy when using a tripod and with practice easy to use without a tripod. And saves me time when using two cameras.
Sames me time messing around on the PC afterwards.

Really happy to be chosen in the first pick of 2011, the light was terrific at Clava and this shot was begging to be taken.

A staggering display of talent which exceeds much of what is seen in magazines. Thank you to all the backroom shufflers of electrons.

Great surprise to be featured, something good came from venturing out on the freezing afternoon, glad that more viewers will share that special scene the light was alluring.

mrs parky, thanks, all the exif info is visible on my gallery images. Basically speed settings are set first then aperture on auto, lower light means increasing the iso. can you add some photos to your gallery?

Having read the list has made me realise how I have settled into favoured settings which is ok for my aerial shoots.
Recently I am also taking on ground based jobs and then I refer back to reference books and articles saved from photo mags.Always plenty to learn and I only use a fraction of what my cameras can do, digital means I can practice before I go out to do the actual job.
I bet you never thought that you would see a pro admit that they learn as they earn !

Thanks for choosing one of my airviews, I was away for a while and this was a brilliant surprise for my return week of postings. The great part of RR is the sharing of ideas and encouraging everyone to keep trying to improve.
Thread: Uk photo rights erosion continues ...video clip of arrest | Forum: Photography
Common sense is sadly not common. I have seen a variety of these videos posted and they include very poor attitudes on the part of the uniformed lot. Once that happens it can be tricky not to get annoyed. In this example it was understandable that the photog got annoyed and stuck to the rules as he understood them better than the uniform wearers.
